gundalowseen a few DNS/503 issues with etherpad.openstack.org. I believe there are some RDO cloud issues. Are those statements related?14:23
clarkbgundalow: we don't host etherpad.openstack.org on the RDO cloud at red hat. It is possible your local dns resolution was broken?15:09
gundalowclarkb: hum, what about the 503's?15:11
gundalowDNS issue was someone else]15:11
gundalowJust checking it will be stable for Contirbutor Summit at AnsibleFest 1 -4th October15:12
Shrewsdhellman seemed to indicate some etherpad issues this morning too. wfm though15:12
dmsimardgundalow: etherpad has typically been stable through high traffic periods for the openstack summits and ptgs, it should be fine15:12
gundalowdmsimard: Thanks, that makes me feel happier15:13
clarkbgundalow: http://cacti.openstack.org/cacti/graph.php?action=view&local_graph_id=116&rra_id=all shows a gap in snmp reporting and a spike in connections. My hunch is we had some set of users (maybe you) do a surge of connections which would've eaten up apaches conncetion pool15:14
clarkbif you intend on using the server during the ansiblfest conference we can restart apache the weekend prior to clear out stale clients, but ya in general I expect it will be fine since we've used it for years wtih openstack summits and now PTGS15:15
gundalowCould be 30-50 people, each with multiple etherpads open15:24
clarkbya thats about what we end up with at openstack events, should be ok.15:27

gundalowCool, thanks for the background. If I remember I'll ping on here the weekend before to ask if apache can be restarted15:38

SpamapSso I have this weird problem I'm trying to figure out20:34
SpamapSin my equivalent of "release" or "post", I want to build a docker image and push it to a registry with a tag...20:34
*** samccann has quit IRC20:35
SpamapSbut then I need to somehow get that tag into the deployment systems20:35
SpamapSonly way I can see is to make those pipelines run the deploy jobs...20:36
SpamapSbut just wondering if anybody else has run in to similar issues.20:36
*** hasharAway has quit IRC20:48
dmsimardSpamapS: the way RDO does it is that there is basically a hashed tag and a rolling tag21:08
dmsimardi.e, git commit sha1 as the tag and then there's a "latest" equivalent that is updated21:09
dmsimardIf need be, the image labels/metadata from the "latest" tag provides the necessary information to find the hashed tag21:10
dmsimardSince the "latest" tag is rolling, it's not necessarily safe to use since it could change midway so your tooling resolves the hashed tag prior to deploying21:10
dmsimardWhen I say "latest", it can be anything.. just a named tag.21:11
SpamapShm interesting21:32
SpamapSSo if I were to say, tag with both zuul.pipeline and zuul.build, the deploy job that runs later could just look up whatever image has zuul.pipeline set, and find the zuul.build tag which it could then use to deploy a new "version"21:39
SpamapS(For this particular experiment, I want to update the image: field of kubernetes deployments, which will cause a nice rolling pod update if done right)21:40

dmsimardSpamapS: something like that22:34
dmsimardWe had to develop aggressive pruning though because the tags add up pretty quickly22:35
dmsimardLast I checked we rotated >2k tags weekly22:35
SpamapSdmsimard: Yeah I can imagine they would22:36
