Zarahm, maybe toggle between pagination and 'view all', defaulting to view all if results < 100?09:25
Zarasince iirc the issue with pagination is it meant results wouldn't show up, but people wouldn't realise (which is the same issue we currently have, and there's no way to get those results...)09:26
Zaraand aiui the issue with view all is that it takes ages to load. (and my own workflow with search is generally 'load everything, ctrl+f for the thing I want', so the 'load more when user reaches the bottom of the page' thing really doesn't work for me)09:28
Zarasince, great, now I can't ctrl+f or see how many results there are09:28
SotKit takes ages to load ~1000 stories, I'd dread to think how long it would take to load 10000 stories09:33
ZaraI think that's the thing that needs fixing. easy to say, though. we're probably loading more data than we need to be09:36

persiaI like the idea of "show all" for =<100, and "paginate for first 100" for larger numbers.  It is worth noting in the interface whether a search is truncated, so that the user can be informed when they have too many results.10:23
persiaThat said, I think that's an interface choice: unless someone knows this to be madness, I'd hope the API had a means by which one could return all the results, even for a large set, presuming the user is willing to take the time (or perform other local processing) to actually consume those results (probably with a script).10:25

zara_the_lemur__have done it now18:27
zara_the_lemur__https://review.openstack.org/#/c/384177/ is ready for workflow, could do it but would rather not +A my own patch18:28
zara_the_lemur__I believe that is it for storyboard api things that need review from me that have passed tests. If I've missed things, please flag them up. now for the webclient and python client...18:30

openstackgerritMerged openstack-infra/storyboard: remove final vestiges of incubated oslo code  https://review.openstack.org/39457118:41
zara_the_lemur__gahhhh preferencessss unable to convert to intttttt18:43
zara_the_lemur__looked at https://review.openstack.org/#/c/390671/3 again; I think the error it exposes is quite intrusive so I'd rather take a bit longer to merge and get the API patch in first, but it does depend how long 'a bit' will be18:49
zara_the_lemur__I know a lot of people want this feature18:49
