gmismulcahy: Kiall's ppa mentions that you need two physical interfaces: eth0 will be carrying public traffic and eth1 will be used for private traffic; eth1 should be connected to a switch port defined as trunk allowing vlans (e.g. 100-200) that will be used by projects; each project gets its own vlan and if two instances belonging to same project end up on different nova-compute hosts then they will be able to talk over the eth1/trun15:24

gmicloudipe is used if you don't want to assign a floating IP to your instance, but I've never used it; I find it easier to use floating IP with a restricted security-group and then maybe use one instance as a jump server if I don't want to open access to all instances by using floating/public IPs15:31

Turicasoneiroi, qemu-img also converts vmdk?22:36

Turicasoneiroi, in glance manual they say that glance supports vdi and vmdk files...can I just add them to glance (instead of converting to qcow2)?22:37

cloudflynever seen that22:38

oneiroithough ...clearly things have moved on a lot since I was last heavily involved with this22:38

cloudflythings move very fast on this project22:39
cloudflyi've been on this since before it was available as openstack =P22:39
Turicasoneiroi, I can import vdi and ovf files in glance, but the problem is that VMs just don't start :(22:39

cloudflyTuricas there is a compute log that might throw a stack trace... but you are better off on vnc of the box22:50
oneiroitake for instance for me: /var/lib/nova/instances/instance-00000001/console.log is blank this is because I am trying to boot from an iso something that is not currently supported I used virt-manager to attach to the instance and see the error "No bootable devices"22:50
