eanderssonHey. I'd like to continue to support Senlin as a contributor, but not as the PTL (I do this as a hobby). The project has been incredibly stable over the years. The only real CI failures has been due to dependencies on other OpenStack projects (e.g. Zaqar). I can try to find a PTL, but ultimately I am fine supporting the project for medium size22:39
eanderssonchanges (e.g. Senlin was recently migrated to alembic for sqlalchemy 2.x support) to ensure that it isn't failing basic integration to OpenStack and fix CI failures.22:39
eanderssonIdeal would be to find a non-PTL solution, while I help support the technical / CI aspects of Senlin.22:41
gmanneandersson: thanks for reaching out and continue maintaining the senlin. If you want low traffic on the PTL task, why not you move it to DPL model. as long as you are taking care of CI and releases it should be fine. 23:11
gmannonce you find the PTL or other maintainer they can move it back to PTL model if they want23:11
gmannthis is detail about DPL model https://governance.openstack.org/tc/resolutions/20200803-distributed-project-leadership.html23:11
gmanneandersson: this is step to move to DPL model and in liaison fields you can add your name in all three for now - https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/governance/+/78219523:16
eanderssonYea - that would worek23:18
eandersson*work23:19
gmanneandersson: cool, also once leadership, CI etc are all fixed then do not forget to propose it to make active project by removing Senlin from this list. Deadline to do so is m-2 so that release team can consider it for release - https://governance.openstack.org/tc/reference/emerging-technology-and-inactive-projects.html#current-inactive-projects23:21
eanderssonSounds good. Stupid question, but is there an issue right now with the Senlin CI?23:21
gmannI do not think so, I am seeing notes in this etherpad and CI is all good https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/2024.1-leaderless#L1923:22
gmannand this also mention only about no PTL https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/governance/+/90262623:23
gmannso once you fix the leadership think it is good to propose it back as active 23:23
eanderssonYea - the last PTL hasn't been super active :D23:23
gmannyeah, they volunteer to be PTL during election but after that we did not hear back anything from them https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/election/+/89288023:24
gmannbut I think moving to DPL model as you are interested to maintain it and continue finding other maintainers if there are seems like good step for now23:24
eanderssonYep agree23:25
eanderssonAnd if we are lucky the previous PTL comes back. He has been doing a good job. It's a small project.23:25
gmannyeah23:25
