Kialltimsim / vinod1: finally passed gate, my last ditch attempt was nearly right last night ;) It seems there's an issue with how designate-manage's CLI arguments line up with oslo.cfg.. they both attempt to parse the arguments, and pool-target-id didn't exist in the oslo.config set of options, so it exploded.. The initial PS with --connection worked by fluke since oslo.db defines that option for us.12:41

Kialltimsim: I guess it depends on the backend really? e.g. Akamai/Dyn want notifies to a set of also_notify, bind wants it to the nameservers (unless your using the agent?), powerdns wants it to the nameservers too20:03
KiallI'm also trying to figure out how to have mDNS treat a NotImplemented response to a NOTIFY as OK.. Since that's what akamai returns when you notify the nameservers... I think the "make_and_send_dns_message" method is a tad too broad .. But, it's late and my head is melted ;)20:05

timsimIt seems like not all Backends will need a NOTIFY, but will need something. So it makes sense to me to do it in the backend. That way the backend has total control, which I feel is good because everyone has their own wonky dns setup.20:18
