amalrajgenocidexHi, Can I use a VLAN in place of host_bind_override? I wanted to setup octavia, but do not have a separate nic(eth14) for it. So I was wondering if I can create vlan on the existing bond for it and use it for octavia.11:35
amalrajgenocidexIs it possible?11:35

jrosserandrelf: there are notes about eth12 here in the documentation https://docs.openstack.org/openstack-ansible/latest/user/prod/example.html14:32
jrossereth12 exists as an additional interface in the example config connected to br-vlan via a veth pair14:33
jrosserthis is just an example, and you might well have a dedicated interface or bond for your external network so you should set it up suitably for your environment14:33
jrosserthe example is done this way because neutron must be given an interface, not a bridge, so br-vlan is not suitavle14:34
andrelfjrosser yep i was seing that doc when i found the option "host_bind_interface" and im associating witjh bound1 that already as a native vlan enabled with acess to internet... waiting for openstack-ansible to finished reconfigurating and see if it resoves that error14:35
jrosseryou can run just the neutron playbook if all you have changed is the network config14:35
jrosserif you look at setup-openstack.yml you'll see that it just calls a series of other playbooks14:36

jrossernoonedeadpunk: just afk right now but didn’t the job fail because that was undefined?17:39
noonedeadpunknope17:40
noonedeadpunkIt's full green17:40
noonedeadpunkand this var is defined in integrated repo17:40
andrelfi think i think i have found the problem regarding the allocation of the host but there is something that i dont understnad in documentation. If i create a vm , that disk space is alocated in cinder-volumes(storage node) and in compute node?17:41
andrelfand if it creates in computes nodes, where does it create the disk?17:42
jrossernoonedeadpunk: the dependant job in os_magnum though?17:43

noonedeadpunkah, fair17:46
noonedeadpunkindeed17:46
noonedeadpunkoh, ok. then we have another criteria17:46
andrelfbecause i find that the problem was in DISK_GB when doing openstack allocation candidate list. and when activating thtre debug mode in nova service i get this http://paste.openstack.org/show/793781/ whgich says it has only 3GB but i can't find a partition with that space in the compute host.17:46
openstackgerritDmitriy Rabotyagov (noonedeadpunk) proposed openstack/openstack-ansible master: Update Magnum fedora image name  https://review.opendev.org/72774917:48
noonedeadpunkandrelf: tbh I'm not really sure about that...17:48
noonedeadpunkIn terms I'm pretty sure that you got the problem right, but don't really know all nuances of allocation17:49
noonedeadpunkand your setup...17:49

jrosserandrelf: you can have any combination with local ephemeral disks and ceph volumes, depends how you configure it...17:53

andrelfjrosser my flavor's dont have any epthemral disk, and i configured the cinder storage to use lvm group "cinder-volume". but when reading the information in  https://docs.openstack.org/project-deploy-guide/openstack-ansible/latest/overview.html#storage-disk-recommendations it say that i shoudl have enoght space for the instance disks... but i tought17:57
andrelfthat the vms disk would go to the cinder-volume17:57
andrelfok going trought nova.conf i was able to discover that the vm info goes to /var/lib/nova/instances and after raising that partion to 30G the nova already detected 29GB max space18:06
andrelfso when when i create a flavour and define a disk space, that space is alocated in compute hosts in /var/... and only if i define a cinder volume it goes to the storage node?18:08
andrelfhum i think i have understand and the problem was in my execution of the openstack server create options... trying to create a new server based of a cinder volume now and see if it works18:14
