kata-dev-irc-bot<james.o.hunt> @samuel.ortiz, @xu - For you info, I've just created https://github.com/orgs/kata-containers/teams/documentation/members and added a couple of Intel folk to it. We can then think about adding pullapprove support for documentation sign-off.09:17
kata-dev-irc-bot<samuel.ortiz> @james.o.hunt sounds good, thanks.10:37

kata-dev-irc-bot<xu> thank you @james.o.hunt13:54
kata-dev-irc-bot<kubernetes> Hello all, trying to get started with Kata/ClearContainers, had a few stupid questions15:05
kata-dev-irc-bot<kubernetes> 1. When I try to set Kubernetes with ClearContainers up on EC2, kubelet cant start any pods and has a message like "Virtualization is not supported on this instance". So my question is, is this supposed to work on EC2 and the likes that dont support cascading?15:06
kata-dev-irc-bot<samuel.ortiz> @kubernetes EC2 does not support nested virtualization, so it won't work.15:13
kata-dev-irc-bot<xu> kata does not have an runnable binary build, both runv and clearcontainers have. I am more familiar with runV, if you run runV on top of a general EC2 instance, it will use qemu w/o kvm, which will loss performance.15:14
kata-dev-irc-bot<samuel.ortiz> if you want to run Clear Containers on a public cloud, you want to pick one that support nested virt, like Google Cloud or Azure.15:14
kata-dev-irc-bot<kubernetes> got it! Thanks @samuel.ortiz @xu15:14
kata-dev-irc-bot<xu> Yes, if you want to play with them, using an emulation mode is ok, but if you want to build a product, you’d better run on bare metal or those support nested VT15:17
kata-dev-irc-bot<kubernetes> yea right now just playing, will try to figure out how to run qemu on ec215:33
kata-dev-irc-bot<james.o.hunt> @kubernetes - note that you can check if the environment will support running a Clear Container by running "cc-runtime cc-check". See: https://github.com/clearcontainers/runtime#hardware-requirements15:38
kata-dev-irc-bot<kubernetes> sweet! Thanks!15:39
