ilya_mochalovhello here! I am stack with quite basic error while running `zuul-scheduler` inside of my python venv. Error is `FileNotFoundError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/lib/zuul/times'`02:11
ilya_mochalovanyone here can point me to right direction? how do I debug this case? thank you in advance02:11

ilya_mochalovI don't have /var/lib/zuul02:15
tristanCilya_mochalov: perhaps try running "useradd -m -d /var/lib/zuul zuul" and run zuul processes as the zuul user02:16
ilya_mochalovalright, I will give it a try. Now I am running it as my user02:17
tristanCilya_mochalov: or you can change the configuration in zuul.conf to point at your home directory02:18

ssbarneais anyone working to enable ansi logs for zuul?18:09
*** pcaruana has quit IRC18:09
corvusssbarnea: do you mean in the web streaming console viewer?18:13
ssbarneacorvus: its name makes me think that works only for live output, not for archived one, right?18:14
fungi"ansi" as a reference to terminal escape sequences makes me think you wouldn't expect to use it for web streaming18:16
fungiunless "ansi" is slang for "color" these days18:16
corvusssbarnea: yes.  afaik, that's the only part of zuul that might need any changes to support color escape sequences.  the underlying finger protocol used for streaming should pass through any binary data it gets.  and zuul itself doesn't deal with archived logs -- so as long as wherever you're storing your logs supports serving that data, it should work.18:16
ssbarneaone example: http://logs.openstack.org/20/571220/1/check/ara-integration-opensuse-py27-2.5.2/f918075/ -- job-output.txt.gz is (obviously) a plain text file without ANSI coloring. Now my question is who would be in "charge" of producing a colored log file (likely as HTML).18:16
corvusssbarnea: ah, that's the openstack project who's in charge of that, so it's a question for #openstack-infra.18:17
fungii'm still tripping over the term "ansi" there. i'd expect the possibility for injecting ansi escapes into the finger stream perhaps, but for those to be useful in the web stream you'd need some sort of ansi escape to html stream parser18:18
corvusssbarnea: unless you're suggesting that zuul output a native html version of the console log?18:19
openstackgerritMerged openstack-infra/zuul master: Add missing pathlib dependency  https://review.openstack.org/57053918:19
ssbarneai am not suggesting anything, just trying to gather information. i am about improving the UX by having colored logs (ansible logs without color are really hard to read).18:20
corvusssbarnea: if that's the suggestion, then there is an idea about that -- there's a job-output.json file which has even more info in it than job-output.txt.  mordred has suggested there could be a simple javascript viewer for that which could colorize things as appropriate, and also do useful ux things like make sections expand/collapse.18:21
ssbarneabut i am more interested about stored long than the real time console output, find real time of less important.18:21
ssbarneain fact there are browser plugins that can read ANSI.18:21
ssbarneabut somehow i have the impression that people do not like the idea of being forced to install a plugin to read logs.18:22
corvusssbarnea: one more clarifying question -- in the console log, there's content from 3 sources: zuul, ansible, and the commands ansible executes.  which things are you interested in colorizing?18:22
ssbarneaansible18:23
ssbarneaobviously that commands executed by ansible is out of the question, this would be up to the shell task to do a "| ansi2html " if they want.18:24
corvusssbarnea: great, then i think the javascript viewer for job-output.json is probably the best approach.  the json file will have all the information needed to produce what's in job-output.txt but in a colorized and structured form.18:24
ssbarneacorvus: can you recomend one for chrome?18:25
corvusssbarnea: and i don't believe anyone is working on it.  mordred just suggested it a while back but hasn't begun work on it (other than to ensure that job-output.json is present and supported to support future work on it)18:25
corvusssbarnea: sorry, i don't mean a browser plugin or anythong on the user side, i mean that it's something that could be part of zuul so that someone could deploy it as a webapp on their log server18:26
ssbarneaahh. ok.18:26
corvusssbarnea: if you're interested in writing some javascript, i think such a tool would be useful and welcome18:28
ssbarneaindeed, probabil converting job-output.json into a index.html page which is easy to read. In fact index could load the json file and render it.18:28
ssbarneaso one aspect clarified, the job-output one. for the other one i have ara which ok.18:30

mnaserI would bet it has to do with angular23:55
