Zarazaro: I started doing it that way because I have no experience of gerrit internals or java, in general I have a lot more people around to ask about python things, and when I asked about extending the plugin I was advised to update from stream events instead. I'm not too attached to any particular approach, but in the end nobody had extended the gerrit plugin and I didn't have the knowledge to do so, so we09:24
Zarant with the one I could work out how to do. if nothing else, it'll revive interest in the plugin, hopefully. :)09:25

zaroZara: the plugin updates from steream events as well, just with java :)16:14
zaroZara: anyways, if it's a proper gerrit plugin it might get used by other people choosing storyboard as their issue tracker.16:15
zaronot sure when the openstack TC will decide on storyboard but once the decision gets made my may get restored.16:15

Zara_zaro: yeah, plus a proper gerrit plugin would be nicer than my approach because it means no extra project, etc, and as far as I'm aware you'd sorted the auth stuff for the storyboard side, if it was able to post comments?16:50
Zara_(btw, I logged in because I realised that it's a bank holiday on Monday so this channel will be quiet, wanted to give people a heads-up)16:51
krotscheckZara_: It's a holiday in the U.S. as well.16:54
Zara_ahh, ace16:54
Zara_fewer people will be lonely, then16:54
krotscheck"Pretend that most of us remember WWII day"16:54
Zara_haha, I never know what bank holidays are actually for. well, there's Christmas and Easter... and New Year... and then... uh...16:55
Zara_I thought we had more here than in the US, but I don't actually know16:56
krotscheckZara_: The U.S. Is terrible about holidays.16:56
krotscheckMost of our national holidays are working holidays.16:57
Zara_ah, I see you have double listed, but you have no minimum paid vacation, whaaaaat16:58
Zara_I knew us people got less but I thought you got *some*, wow!16:58
Zara_er, usa people, not 'us'16:58
Zara_that was ambiguous16:58
Zara_+ they don't have to give us public holidays on top of holidays, or make it holiday by default, but nice places do.16:59
krotscheckZara_: Oh no. no no no. It's "standard" to get 2 weeks a year.16:59
krotscheckPlus 6 holidays16:59
krotscheckSo a grand total of three weeks of rest in 52.16:59
krotscheckAs opposed to germany, where base is 6, and most get 1016:59
Zara_ah, I think our standard is about 3-4 weeks, plus about a week of bank holidays... so we're somewhere in the middle17:00

* persia found Japan to be employee-friendly in that regard: 20 bank holidays + a floating 3-day Obon (to be selected by region of origin or region of employment by employee preference) along with 3 weeks holiday being normal.17:05
persiaMost offices are also closed the remainder of the days of the week for year-end, may, and september holiday weeks, for another 6-7 days off (as 2-day weeks are annoying for everyone)17:08
Zara_according to wikipedia, cambodia is the place to be! (42 total, 27 are bank holidays)17:08
*** bethwhite has quit IRC17:08
Zara_(I'm looking at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_minimum_annual_leave_by_country )17:09
persiaThe entry for Japan in that list erroneously lists "0" bank holidays, rather than the 23-30 that are more normally observed.17:11
Zara_yeah, I think those are just ones required by law?17:12
persiaHrm.  Gets complicated.17:12
persiaIn Japan, if one is paid for shift-work, one isn't paid those days, but if one is full-time, one is paid those days.  Do shift workers in the UK get 8-hour pay for bank holidays automatically, even with no shift?17:12
Zara_I'd imagine not since it doesn't have to be a paid holiday here, though in practice places might do it if it's easier than to offer it on another day17:14
persiaAh, I see.  The UK asserts an entitlement to leave, and employers may grant those on bank holidays or not, at their leisure.17:16
persiaJapan is more customary, like the US, where there are holidays, and everything is closed, and most folk get paid, but this isn't enforced by labour law.17:17
Zara_yeah, the UK is a bit in between, because employers seem to normally do holiday + bank holidays, and give people a bit of extra holiday, but legally they could count bank holidays as holiday. So that's how my bf has about a week less holiday a year than I do; I have a nicer employer.17:19
persia(although Japan averages something like 40 days off a year, the UK 28, and the US 18)17:20
Zara_what happens with US or UK-owned businesses in Japan? are they a thing?17:21
persiaComplicated.  There is a special sort of company in Japan that is wholly owned by a foreign entity, but they have to provide the same holiday model as Japanese companies.17:21
persiaOr, rather, if they don't, people won't work there.17:22
persia(and since one can get three months paid leave for "stress" at will, employers tend to be careful about staff concerns)17:22
Zara_sorry was afk, was just moving to japan.17:28
Zara_(actually watching this since it came up on my fb feed, not relevant to anything but people may find it interesting so: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/may/27/worlds-most-dangerous-school-run-chinese-children-800m-cliff )17:29
persiaDon't get too excited.  More people die from overwork in Japan than most of Europe or the Americas.  The apparently excessive holidays and paid leave provisions are a largely unsuccessful attempt to reduce that.17:32
Zara_heh, I didn't read it as excessive, but more as a 'we care about people's mental health'. I'd imagine that there's actually so much stigma involved in taking the 3 months that nobody takes it.17:36
persiaPeople do, but usually only if there is a collision between life issues and work issues, or after a long period of consecutive 20-hour days with no weekends to meet some deadline.17:45
persiaTo be fair, most people who take it do so at doctor's orders, perhaps because of the stigma.17:46
