Zaraafternoon, storyboard!11:30
Zaraso, last night I was thinking about storyboard and the potential some kind of CI display extensions as a future feature, after the discussion in infra with the ci-watch team. An issue, however, is how we avoid the UI getting too crowded-- I think we're already seeing some strain with the worklists and boards WIP, and this is going to get tougher if/when we add more features.11:41
Zarait might be worth drafting some potential solutions sometime soon.11:42
Zaragroupings for features, etc (I predict we'll end up using the submenu more) -- but this depends on what we want the boundaries of storyboard to be, and where we're saying 'nope, that's the job of another component'.11:44
ZaraI'm thinking about the stuff here: https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/StoryBoard/Vision#Relationship_with_code_review_system11:50
Zarathere's nothing about a visualisation tool, but it might be a good fit. it might also be spreading storyboard way too thin, and better placed elsewhere.11:51
Zaraalso I'd like to spring clean the docs (and so on) so that we have it all up to date for newcomers. it's probably worth blocking out some time for it, since I don't want to be doing bits between coding (and I don't want to distract others from coding, either).11:55
SotKI think it would be nice if the CI vote on changes in Gerrit was reflected in the tasks in StoryBoard somehow, but I think that overarching CI visualisations belong in a different tool probably.11:58
SotK+1 for cleaning the docs up11:59
* SotK wonders if pdar ever got anywhere with his work to fix the vagrant docs11:59

persiaPersonally, I'm more interested in a modular architecture for interfaces.12:07
persiaLots of libraries to interact with REST services, allowing folk to build componentised UIs for specific needs.12:07
persiaSo, for storyboard, I think the right answer is to ensure that sufficient metadata is available that one *could* usefully interact with code review, CI, etc.12:08
persiaAnd in storyboard-webclient, it is useful to provide an example of simple interaction with gerrit.12:08
persiaBut building a general interface is a wider discussion, and ought involve people outside of SB now (and some ex-SB folk).12:09
Zarayeah, I was thinking that in any CI GUI, when someone saw that something had gone wrong, they would want more detail about the thing-- both the commit and error logs, but also potentially the full story and information about which projects/project groups it was involved in-- so compatibility with storyboard would be something to consider on both sides.12:12
persiaAbsolutely.12:14
* SotK wonders if board descirptions should have a show/hide option on the board page.12:36
SotKConsider http://185.98.149.23/#!/board/1 for example12:36

* SotK discovers he has somehow managed to resurrect the "putting lanes inside lanes" bug again13:15
persiaSotK: I'm not sure what I would be critiquing from that example.13:19
SotKmostly whether you would find it useful to make the description disappear so the board itself has a more reasonable amount of space before having to scroll down (especially on smaller screens)13:21
ZaraI think that might work. maybe it's better demonstrated with a realy long example and some lanes, so it's easier to see what you mean (I think I get it but that's because I've been the person whining about this :P)13:24
* SotK makes the description bigger13:26
Zaraso at this point this could be described at bug fixing for bug fixing for bug fixing. nice13:28
Zara*as13:28
Zara(update on subscriptions services stuff-- the second I decided to look at something else for a while, I cracked it; should be sending a much smaller patch later today, to replace the one currently in gerrit.)13:30
SotKexcellent news :D13:31

* Zara goes through the long, long list of controllers, deleting everything...13:56
Zaraooh, think I've finished (still needs a variable name tidy)14:02
ZaraI'm hoping I've got the user stuff right. will probably upload a patch now and then tidy afterwards.14:04
openstackgerritZara proposed openstack-infra/storyboard-webclient: Subscriptions  https://review.openstack.org/22356214:07
SotK\o/14:07
Zarathe variable names are horrible so that's next on the list. we might also want to add subscribe buttons on the detail pages that are currently missing them14:08
ZaraI think they're only on stories atm.14:08
Zaraalso plz test because I might have broken everything hahahaha14:09
ZaraSotK: just looked at the longer example-- there isn't a visible board on it (maybe it's private?)14:18
SotKnot when you scroll down?14:18
* SotK cries14:18
Zaranope, just hte horizontal scroll bar :(14:18
Zaraoh god i found a bug even when i wasn't trying to14:19
Zarai am cursed14:19
SotKthe lanes must not get updated when publicness changes14:19
SotKooh, meeting in 10 minutes!14:49
Zaraoh yeah!14:49
