brunomunizftl_mason: we can help you, for sure!02:18
brunomunizJust to let you know, I'm usually available from 12 noon to 9 PM (UTC). 02:19
brunomunizWe have been having great success with the instructions here: https://opendev.org/starlingx/virtual-deployment/src/branch/master/virtualbox/pybox#installation-and-usage (these instructions will be soon merged into the official docs, by the way)02:21
brunomunizMost of the problems we are facing are related to VirtualBox and its quirks (namely, whatever handles the port forwards for a NatNetwork sometimes fails; also the serial ports sometimes act weird).02:23
brunomunizWe're currently working on the setup to get a All-in-One Duplex installed with this script. I'm mentioning this because we found that a Duplex is required to set up a Central Cloud (at least, officially, but I'm pretty sure more experienced folks here know how to bypass this if strictly necessary in your setup). A Subcloud can then be a AIO-SX.02:25
brunomunizThe guide that Ildikó mentioned/linked (the one that Eddy and Babak put together for a workshop) is pretty much the same that's automated (the link I sent). It's a matter of what you need: one gives you a step-by-step solution, so you end up having to flip more bits and in the process understands a little bit more about StarlingX; the other will give you a ready to use AIO-SX installation in 1h or so without much (or any) intervention.02:34
brunomunizI'll keep an eye on the IRC here tomorrow in case you need help.02:35
ftl_masonHi brunomuniz, sorry I missed you earlier.03:18
ftl_masonI'm going through the the installation instructions at the link you sent me.  I'm running into the same problem that I found with the current official documentation - the git clone URL is incorrect.  It looks like this is the correct URL https://opendev.org/starlingx/virtual-deployment03:21
ftl_masonFrom the URL I posted, I've tried both the libvirt and virtualbox options, but I haven't yet tried the pybox option.  I'll try pybox tonight and let you know how it goes.03:23
haoiiHello, I do struggle with connecting my StarlingX VM to the internet. Is this how it is supposed to be? The ansible playbook bootstrap action fails. Is there anywhere to speak to someone with the knowledge to maybe help?07:29
brunomunizhaoii: there's a step that says explicitly that you need to configure external connectivity (and if you're following the install guides, the commands to do this are shown here: https://docs.starlingx.io/r/stx.8.0/deploy_install_guides/release/virtual/aio_simplex_install_kubernetes.html#id2)11:49
brunomunizTake a look at the section "Boostratrap system on controller-0", step 2.11:50
*** bmuniz is now known as brunomuniz19:09
ftl_masonbrunomuniz: Using the pybox scripts I was able to successfully install an AIO-SX in a VirtualBox VM.  At the very end of the process it failed to install the K8S dashboard.  Would you like me to create an issue in a bug tracker somewhere?  I can provide the logs showing why it failed.21:25
ftl_masonIt looks like I should submit them by following this process https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/StarlingX/Defect_Handling_Process, so I'll do that this afternoon.21:45
ildikovhaoii: Thank you for reaching out! When you say StarlingX VM, do you mean that you are trying to install StarlingX in a virtual machine?23:32
ildikovftl_mason: yaaay, you're almost there!23:33
ildikovftl_mason: were you able to identify why the installation failed?23:34
ildikovftl_mason: with regards to the bug reporting process, the community is still using Launchpad, and the wiki looks up to date to me23:35
