sgwMorning all15:29
Samiam1999DTPGood morning15:48
Samiam1999DTPWhen booting from USB of the 3.0 or daily build, how long should it take to load once you hit the console or gui screen?15:49
dpenney_if you select "Serial" but only have gui console, it will be blank for multiple minutes while it does the install. "Serial" uses console=ttyS0, while "Graphical" uses console=tty015:53

sgwjsomervi1: Morning, question for you about the proposed kernel changes, have you reviewed these changes against the 4.18 kernel?  Are they needed for 4.18?  I I am leary of adding patches to the kernel at this point16:05
jsomervi1sgw, No, I haven't looked at 4.18.  You can argue that the person who did the 1062 upgrade (7.7 kernel) should have caught this issue.  My change only sets a config option, it doesn't modify any executable code in the kernel16:08
sgwjsomervi1: do you mean the CentOS person or our 1062 update?16:11
jsomervi1our person16:11
jsomervi1if a module doesn't even load....16:14
jsomervi1sgw My testing now has the module loading and the driver appears to work fine on std, but on rt it appears to have link bounce issues.  I'm doing more testing, but the mlnx firmware is a bit below the required minimum for CentOS 7.7, so I'll need to get that upgraded.16:18
sgwjsomervi1: Ok, I understand better now, thanks.  I will wait for your testing to finish.16:20
sgwjsomervi1: should this change also be brought forward as a bug against 7.7 upstream?16:22
jsomervi1sgw No.  It's a issue with out-of-tree modules.  In-tree, the driver can select the required config options, but out-of-tree is at the mercy of what has already been selected/configured into the kernel.16:35

jsomervi1sgw I'm going to try another approach in parallel, telling the driver source that it doesn't have page_pool functionality available to it in the kernel17:02
Samiam1999DTPhmm it must not like the machine as either selection was given over an hour and nothing...17:15
Samiam1999DTPThe machine in question worked for openstack but not starlingx, its a Supermicro 1U Server X8DTU-F 2x Xeon X5675 3.06ghz 12-Cores 64gb17:16
