pratikmHello everyone. Am a StarlingX newbie. I am wondering if anyone has a recommendation for latest iso for a duplex installation. I looked at some sanity reports and see that May-24 is a candidate that does not have any basic TCs failing.13:38

tranzemcpratikm: Hi Pratikm, I suggest you strongly to take a look at https://docs.starlingx.io/deployment_guides/index.html16:37
marosaleshi team, I sent these reviews for debian packaging to fault project, could you check them and let me know your comments? https://review.opendev.org/#/q/status:open+project:starlingx/fault+branch:master+topic:multios17:13
sgwdpenney_:, slittle1: question about stx-gui and permissions, the current CentOS specfile does a chmod -R 755 the rpmlint complains about files without she-bang because they have executable bit set. These are html, js, scss and some python files, additionally the permissions are incorrect in the git repo, I am going to send an initial commit to fix the obvious ones17:39
dpenney_sgw: there are probably quite a few cases where people have used 755 unnecessarily... some seem to do it as a default. I've commented on it in reviews over the years, but never taken an action to do any sort of broad changes. Another benefit of the rpmlint tool :)17:44
dpenney_tsmith2 may be able to comment on stx-gui specifically, but I'd expect there's no reason for the files to be executable17:45
sgwdpenney_: thanks for the info. I will send an update with the python files and removing the chmod17:52
dpenney_the files would presumably need to be 644, for accessibility to an http server as a non-root user, and dirs 755, and maybe that's the reason for the chmod -R - an overly broad approach. I can check to see if there's some history on the code17:55
dpenney_looks like this case isn't long-standing code... just a case of "755 as a default", I think18:00

sgwdpenney_: another question, do you know why the gui/dashboard builds both .pyo and .pyc files where other packages only create .pyc?  Is there a magic flag someplace that triggers this?  One thing I noticed is dashboard uses %py2_build while others use %{__python} setup.py build, maybe it's buried in the %py2_build macro?19:37

dpenney_yeah... looking at the build.log for starlingx-dashboard vs tsconfig in my build output and macros.python2 file in mock root, the big difference is that the py2_build macro passes optimzation flags through CFLAGS... in build.log, you can see in the dashboard case that it's got a -O2 ... and the use of -O tells python setup build to generate pyo files19:53

sgwdpenney_: there still seems to be a difference between CentOS build and the openSUSE build with dashboard, CentOS provides both .pyc (zero size) and the .pyo version. For OBS, both .pyc and .pyo are generated and the same size and content.  Maybe different buildroot and python configs, more digging.22:34
