I've try  to do some 'nova-manage network create', but the network is not shown in the dashboard. My question is how to get an ip for the instances ?11:03

zynzel_val_: smth like that ;) glance can use other backend (swift, file, s3)14:29
manu1_val_: From what I understand, Swift is like a big distributed hard drive - it just stores blobs of data.14:29
manu1_val_: Glance is a bit more specific, in that it specifically stores virtual machine images (kernels, ramdisks, etc.)14:30
_val_what is meant by "Swift: Redundant storage of static objects"14:30
_val_manu1: but a virtual machine disk e.g qcow2 format  stores these things all in one. A device block14:31
manu1_val_: When you store something to Swift, it is usually copied to multiple machines... it's like RAID14:31
manu1_val_: Glance can store machine images in multiple different formats, from what I gather. So you can use qcow2, or all the files separately, etc.14:31

The nova-api then needs to look up the image you specified, so it uses the glance-api and glance-registry to do so. If it finds out that the Fedora image is stored on Swift, it then makes a call to swift to retrieve the image, then boots the instance.14:42

pmullaney_Hi all, I am trying to do a single node devstack install, which I have had working in the past, I am running into a problem uploading a kernel to glance. What I have looked at so far points towards the keystone direction. I've run the curl command in the devstack script that obtains the credentials and the result token keeps changing - normal? See http://paste.openstack.org/show/13875/21:39
