*** clauden_ has joined #openstack15:15
heckjfulc: Do you have eth1 on both of the systems connected to a switch so they can talk with each other?15:15
fulcnope, not really :)15:15
fulci guess connecting the cables is the easy part, i will do that15:16
heckjfulc: s'cool - you might want to in the future, but you can do what you need with a single interface. Are you planning on using FlatDHCP or Vlan networking?15:16

fulcugh, let me actually read what those 2 are15:17
heckjHere's the brutal quick synopsis - if you don't have a local switch capable of tagging networking traffic with VLANs that you can twiddle on, you likely need to use FlatNetworking.15:17
*** negronjl has joined #openstack15:17
heckjFlatNetworking uses a bridge device configured on one of those eth0/1 devices to make sure traffic routes cleanly between all your nodes that need it.15:18
fulchmm, i think that the switch is not able to handle vlan15:18
*** zul has quit IRC15:19
fulcso flat networking it is :)15:19
heckjOkay - second question - on the network that you have the eth0 connected to - do you already have a DHCP server running?15:19
heckjfulc (there's some good reading on how this is all set up at http://docs.openstack.org/cactus/openstack-compute/admin/content/networking-options.html)15:20
fulcyes, although when i was installing stackops it didnt configure automatically as when i was installing other distros15:20
fulcalright, i'll have a look15:21
fulcthanks :)15:21
heckjfulc: Kind of the critical thing (to me) is to choose out your networking set up. You have the choice of FlatNetworking or FlatDHCPNetworking15:22
heckjfulc: I suspect you'll want to use FlatDHCPNetworking, connect up those eth1 to a switch, and then use the nova.conf networking config from http://docs.openstack.org/cactus/openstack-compute/admin/content/configuring-flat-dhcp-networking.html, with the eth1 as your --flat_interface15:23
fulci assume i should choose flat dhcp if i already have a dhcp server on the machine that provides internet to my 2 openstack machines?15:23
fulchah, great minds think alike :P15:23
fulcalright, i'm off to connect the eth1's to the switch15:24
nhmflatdhcp is what I ended up settling on and it works fairly well.15:25

berto-hey everyone,20:58
berto-i reinstalled my OS fresh and ran the scripted install, copied my working nova.conf file and now i'm running into the same problem that magically fixed itself last time.20:59
berto-bridged network is not setting itself up via br100 and not really sure where to look.  nova-network.log looks clean.20:59

sutidbaHi, I'm trying to get swift setup for the first time.  I was running through the Swift All In One docs and got a failure when I got to the unit tests http://pastie.org/2152277 .  Any suggestions as to what the problem could be?23:13

JusHalah, finally got a lxc instance running on RH6. rpms from Grid Dynamics seem to ship a modified nova/virt/disk.py which does not work for me, replaced it with the one shipped with ubuntu and that one at least mounts the disk image.23:32
