ttxmnaser, fungi, AJaeger: while you are in the janitorial discussion -- I spotted one repository that is defined in Zuul and Gerrit but has been retired: openstack/tripleo-ui -- looks like this one missed one step?09:59
AJaegerttx, good point - missed in https://review.opendev.org/#/c/665259/1/zuul/main.yaml10:06
ttxAJaeger: I can submit it, unless you're already on it10:06
AJaegerttx, please do! And check that the other repos are removed as well.10:08
AJaegerthanks!10:08
ttxI'm doublechecking now10:08
AJaegerSeems to be the only repo from those10:09
AJaegeryes, three repos - it removed on in 665259, one in followup - so tempest-ui is only one missing10:11
ttxyou mean tripleo-ui10:12
AJaegeryes, tripleo-ui10:14
*** rpittau is now known as rpittau|bbl10:20
ttxFound a few more I think10:20
ttxopenstack/networking-l2gw10:21
ttxopenstack/openstack-ux10:21
ttxopenstack/dragonflow10:21
ttxopenstack/networking-onos10:21
ttxopenstack/python-dracclient10:21
ttxopenstack/solum-infra-guestagent10:21
ttxopenstack/networking-l2gw-tempest-plugin10:21
ttxopenstack/tripleo-ui10:21
ttxI suspect some of those are in progress10:21
*** tkajinam has quit IRC10:22
ttxAJaeger: ^ those are defined in Zuul but present in legacy.yaml. I think they have not started their retirement process yet10:25
ttxIt's a bit confusing because legacy.yaml contains both retired and not-yet-retired-but-unofficial things10:26
*** ricolin has quit IRC10:26
ttxsmcginnis, AJaeger: do you track the list of things that are in legacy but with retirement pending ? I see Sean proposed to complete dragonflow recently10:33
ttxfeels a bit weird to me that we retired congress and tricircle already, but still have dragonflow around10:34
openstackgerritThierry Carrez proposed openstack/governance master: No longer track refstack repos in governance  https://review.opendev.org/73796210:43
mnaserttx: the “Ci job” has caught all these so we can adjust them11:41
AJaegerttx, let's check with my list from yesterday: dragonflow  networking-l2gw networking-l2gw-tempest-plugin networking-onos openstack-ux python-dracclient solum-infra-guestagent transparency-policy - and tread them separate.11:49
AJaegerttx, ah, transparency-policy is wrong in my list. Otherwise, we have the same.11:50
AJaegerttx, these repos were not retired - but abandoned from their repos or moved out of governance when we had a different policy.11:51
AJaegerttx, so, yes, those need retirement now - and looking at discussion, I think mnaser and/or smcginnis will take care of them.11:52
ttxok, great!11:52
AJaegermnaser: do you want to approve ttx' tripleo-ui cleanup, please - https://review.opendev.org/#/c/737961/11:53
mnaserAJaeger: sure let me click /me is on mobile11:54
mnaserAJaeger: done. I think we should check zuul projects to make sure there’s no reference and gerrit is pointing towards retired acl11:56
AJaegermnaser: ttx and myself did already, rest is fine11:57
AJaegermnaser: thanks11:57
mnaserAJaeger: oh I meant in my little validate legacy script :) to prevent missing things in the future11:57
AJaegermnaser: ah, sure!11:57
mnaseror maybe it could be for project-config that nothing which has retired acl exists in zuul config11:58
mnaserThat way we stop it a step earlier. Anywyas, we’re currently pending / waiting for infra because apparently there was some manage projects issue because of newer gîtes11:58
AJaegermnaser: yes, that could go into project-config as well11:59
AJaegermnaser, smcginnis , ttx, let me do three repos as well - I'll retire networking-onos, solum-infra-guestagent openstack-ux now12:03
AJaegermnaser, smcginnis, ttx, all patches sent.12:26
AJaegerThat leaves networking-l2gw, networking-l2gw-tempest-plugin, python-dracclient12:27

gmanntc-members: community meeting updates from today meeting. we had two questions 1. 3rd party zuul v3 migration help 2. release management support for independent projects (ironic was example due to the ML thread) 3. supports-api-interoperability tag plan for all projects16:41
gmann1. 3rd party need help on zuulv3 CI/CD migration and zuulv3 native jobs . first one is being discussed in zuul channel and 2nd one we can help as part of community goal at least about  migration guide and examples.16:43
gmann2. i think there is no other progress then what is there in ML thread16:44
mnaseryeah -- i've gotten some feedback that getting zuul to run is hard, "you figure it out" is a pattern16:44
jungleboyj:-(  Getting Zuul to run is hard.16:45
gmannyeah, even 3rd party CI are on old distro version which our tooling like devstack does not support and we get question like 'we are broken by you'16:45
clarkbin this case we mean "get zuul to run a functioning job" ? or deploy zuul the service? (I think addressing those needs two different appraoches so important to distinguish)16:45
mnaserclarkb: i think #1 is a is the first big leap16:46
gmannclarkb: do you track somewhere how many 3rd party are not zuulv3 yet?16:47
clarkbok. For "deploy zuul the service" I think we should keep improving the zuul installation docs as we get that feedback. But for run a functioning devstack type job thats going to require a bit more openstack specific debugging. Things like which repos do you need in your zuul repo list and what base jobs to use16:47
clarkbgmann: no, tracking third party ci isn't really an infra job16:47
clarkbwe've tried to aid people as much asp ossible but knowing who is running what and how reliable it is and so on has largely been left to the projects themslves16:48
gmannactually if they do not move in upstream face, we end up spending lot of time to fixes the things which we should avoid, you know devstack questions on xenial and old legacy jobs16:48
clarkba big part of that is we've never prescribed any sset of tooling for third party ci. We've had people use Zuulv2 and v3 but also Jenkins and home build scripts16:49
gmannyeah that is true16:49
*** e0ne has quit IRC16:50
clarkband still we don't require zuulv316:50
gmannbut d-g is one big thing for them. and in next cycle if we deprecate/freeze/remove many will be broken or few i do not know16:51
gmannI am concern about, we might get a lot of 'we are broken'16:52
clarkbyes, the real issues are d-g being deprecated and also very old CI installations that have been neglected so no one knows how to upgrade the services/platform16:53
clarkbdeprecating d-g puts more emphasis on devstack itself16:53
clarkbzuulv3 does that with some devstack base jobs but you could run devstack without d-g and without zuul if you choose16:53
gmannyeah.16:54
clarkbanother challenge is we have relied a lot on third party CI operators to figure a lot of this out and then document that for others. But it seems like no one is doing that anymore16:56
jungleboyjYeah, we had a number of people do it for Cinder but then not document it.16:56
jungleboyjWe would send people to them for help as they came along.16:57
toskyso far what I've suggested is to look at the Software Factory bundle16:57
clarkbtosky: I think that helps with deploying a CI tool, but not "how to run devstack against my fancy storage/network/pci device" but maybe SF has a blog/docs for that now too?16:58
toskyuhm, the documentation is mostly for setting up the CI itself17:00
toskyand connect it to opendev's CI17:01
clarkbright17:01
gmann3rd question in community meeting was on 'supports-api-interoperability tag plan for all projects'17:03
gmannthis is little difficult thing but imortant to improve the OpenStack API experience.17:04
gmannour current API guidelines for interop are not so strong, it says lot of things as recommended not must so causing lot of inconsistency17:05
gmanni think we need more pre-work on defining the concrete guide for APIs from interoperability perspective and then start iterating this tag17:06

gouthamrgreat ty gmann, i'll look for it17:49
gmanngouthamr: as you are here, have you proposed the manila application for 'tc:approved-release' tag and after that we will start the removal of this tag saying everything under openstack governance is tc:approved-release17:51
gouthamrgmann: nope :| not yet - i'm running quite late on my PTG TODOs17:51
gouthamrgmann: i'll do this one right away though ^17:52
gmanngouthamr: great. this will help to start the next step on that tag. thanks17:53
