fricklerJayF: do you have a bug report? from the comment in the release patch, the issue is with dalmatian? why does ironic dalmation use libs from epoxy, don't you have a cap in place there? what would be different if the release had been made 3 months later? does ironic-lib lack crosstesting with stable branches?06:06
fricklerlots of questions since I think pulling a release is an extreme act that should be avoided as much as possible06:06
opendevreviewMerged openstack/releases master: kayobe: 2024.2 final  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/releases/+/93575606:20

opendevreviewMerged openstack/releases master: Release keystoneauth for Epoxy-1 milestone  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/releases/+/93459906:32
rpittauJayF: there's actually bugfix coming soon, we can anticipate that to now, the plan was to release it next week anyway08:09
opendevreviewElod Illes proposed openstack/releases master: [barbican] Transition 2023.1 Antelope to Unmaintained  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/releases/+/93450108:41
elodillesJayF: I share frickler's doubts. library releases happening at every milestones, and that is the usual process, for ages. this process is for catching possible failures caused by library releases (on the given series) as early as possible.08:49
elodillesJayF: some projects test both with 1) taking libraries directly from git and 2) taking releases from pypi to catch errors as soon as possible08:51
elodillesJayF: also note, that releasing a beta/milestone release out of a deliverable that is cycle-with-rc model is also not something unusual (ie. 27.0.0.0b1 for ironic). (though that won't help if the epoxy lib release is consumed in stable branches)08:53
elodillesrelease-team: if any of you get there then please review these antelope-unmaintained patches so that we get closer to a working gate :/ https://review.opendev.org/q/topic:antelope-unmaintained+is:open+label:PTL-Approved%252B109:22
elodillesglance is also needed, but we haven't got a response from the team so far :/ 09:22
elodilleshttps://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/releases/+/934502?usp=search09:23
elodillesfor this one ^^^09:23
elodillesmaybe we can force-merge that to unblock the unmaintained/2023.1 gate09:23
elodilles(though i know that "unmaintained is unmaintained".... :P)09:24
elodillesJayF: I might misunderstand something, but there is an upper constraint for ironic-lib in the upper-constraints.txt of dalmatian: https://opendev.org/openstack/requirements/src/commit/9a8c2060724233415cb3d751947eaf30f7936d58/upper-constraints.txt#L60909:34
fricklerelodilles: how about getting closer to a non-broken zuul config and proceed a bit with the eom-eol stack? ;)10:09
elodillesi have to check those as well, i might be able to progress with that tomorrow o:)10:10
elodillesbut in my opinion antelope unmaintained transition has a higher priority10:11
elodillesfrickler: note that i will only concentrate on the zuul config errors on unmaintained and not on master and stable branches for now10:13
elodilles(though originally i started to fix config errors on unmaintained branch-by-branch, starting from master and/or stable in the past)10:15
fricklerwell my priorities are a bit different. but yes, understood, that will still leave you with enough work to do ;)10:15
elodillesthat's for sure :D10:16
opendevreviewMerged openstack/releases master: Release OpenStack-Ansible Caracal  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/releases/+/93581813:44
JayFfrickler: elodilles: this is broken for users installing directly from pypi. You're correct, that's using constraints fixes this issue, but because ironic python agent is built into ramdisks frequently, it's a much more common pattern to install it directly from pypi14:21
JayFSo essentially we have a situation where a useless library release is preventing users who are slightly misconfigured from having their RamDisk builds work. This was actually reported to us by a user as causing them issues.14:22

frickleroh, thx tkajinam, I totally missed that the os-vif patches finally merged15:07
elodillesbauzas: when you have a sec, could you please review this os-vif release patch? https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/releases/+/93589216:07
