dansmithhas anyone else seen the devstack failure to install requirements because of "      error: invalid command 'bdist_wininst'" ?17:43
dansmithI assume I need to do something, but I dunno what that is17:43
fricklerdansmith: never seen that, is that in the CI or in your local testing?17:54
dansmithyeah local17:59
dansmithfrickler: https://pastebin.com/CcNMvveu18:00
gmannhave not seen this error. i think  I bootup devstack last week and it was all good18:00
fricklerdansmith: from a quick websearch that sounds like a windows environment, what distro are you running this on?18:01
dansmithlol, yeah bdist_wininst is the target for a windows installer.. shouldn't be running that on jammy, which is why it's failing18:02
dansmithall that came from devstack doing +inc/python:pip_install:216                env http_proxy= https_proxy= no_proxy= PIP_FIND_LINKS= /opt/stack/requirements/.venv/bin/pip install -c /opt/stack/requirements/upper-constraints.txt /opt/stack/requirements18:05
dansmiththis is basically a clean jammy18:06
fricklerdansmith: weird. and this is with master and with freshly cloned repos?18:12
dansmithd714f7de Add devstack-platform-ubuntu-noble to periodic18:13
dansmithand with an empty /opt18:13
dansmithsame thing happens if I just re-run that pip command manually18:14
dansmithdefinitely weird18:14
dansmithpip in venv is the latest version18:15
fricklerand jammy running in kvm/qemu or which kind of virt?18:18
dansmithkvm yep18:19
gmannis requirement repo also latest? in case there was existing old repo before devstack start18:23
frickleranything special in your local.conf, like plugins?18:24
dansmithso I was going to say no that's stupid18:25
dansmithbut..18:25
dansmithTARGET_BRANCH=train-eol18:26
dansmithmissed that one :/18:26
dansmithsorry for the noise18:26
fricklernp, good to have at least one issue that can be easily explained ;)18:33
dansmithyeah, good for you bad for me since "dan's stupidity" is not easy to digest :D18:36
dansmithstill pretty odd that it's trying to install the win32 target, but at least I don't have to figure out why18:36
gmannyeah, train-eol also should not but anyways not worth to debug :)18:43
dansmiththe fact that I was even stacking train-eol recently is pretty crazy...18:43
gmannI thought you are extending your support even beyond unmaintained branches :P18:46
dansmithdon't get to choose the downstream support envelope :)18:50
