frickleros-vif needs to switch from --black-regex to --exclude-regex https://zuul.opendev.org/t/openstack/build/bbfe19ef5c744359badb48a0dea9cc1f10:50
sean-k-mooneyack i can do that10:52
sean-k-mooneyfrickler: i dont see it used in our test10:53
sean-k-mooneyah in tox10:54
sean-k-mooneythis is for stestr not tempest10:54
sean-k-mooneyhttps://github.com/openstack/os-vif/blob/master/tox.ini#L1510:55
frickleryes, stestr>=4.0 from https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/requirements/+/85571110:56
sean-k-mooneyfrickler: do you know what the min version stestr is that added exclude-regex10:56
fricklersean-k-mooney: nope, would have to check myself10:56
sean-k-mooneyis that when the black-regex was drop or when exclude was added10:56
sean-k-mooneywell if we dont need to backport this i dont really need to know10:56
frickler4.0 seems to have dropped it10:56
sean-k-mooneyill go fix it now one sec10:57

sean-k-mooneyfrickler: ok i cant add stestr>=4.0.0 in test requirement due to upper constarits so ill go find what version added exclude and use that instead11:01

bauzaswhoops, forgot to book an eventbrite ticket for the virtual PTG15:51
bauzas:)15:51
bauzasas a reminder : PLEASE CHECK WHETHER YOU ALREADY REGISTERED FOR THE VIRTUAL PTG AND IF NOT, CLICK HERE https://openinfra-ptg.eventbrite.com/15:52
bauzasI guess the Foundation will send connection details and so on and so far15:52
bauzas+ they want this for metrics 15:52
bauzasin order to know how many people attended and the demographics15:53
gibihehe, I have my ticket :)15:55
melwittI just registered yesterday 😏16:06
fricklerif they didn't want me to give so much personal data to a third party, I would indeed consider doing so16:09
dansmithfrickler: agreed, it's pretty ridiculous for an otherwise "open" and free event16:14
clarkbI just filled it in and it asks for name, email, location and employer/title (there are extra fields but those were optional iirc). Name and email seem like a minimal data set if you're trying to use it to communicate to people. Is the issue with location and employer? or is even name and email too much?16:16
fricklerthe third party is an issue for me. also eventbrite doesn't do double-opt-in, so technically all follow-up emails are spam16:16
fricklerdoing the same thing when distributing OpenStack would make it non-free software in some people's eyes16:17
sean-k-mooneywell there are many perspectives on that16:17
sean-k-mooneyi consider GPLd code to be less free then non copy left license 16:18
sean-k-mooneyAGPL thakes it to an extream. not as extream as mongo or eleastic search16:20
sean-k-mooneyfrickler: for what its work eventbrigte is one fo the few times i use my work email16:21
JayFI don't like it, but I can understand why they did it. Too much work to do, and too few people to spend time building their own system to manage that stuff on top of everything else. 16:22
JayFtbh I'm way more frustrated at the late cancellation of the in-person event which caused actual-financial-churn for people like me who booked in advance16:22
sean-k-mooneyi mean using eventbrite is not new16:22
sean-k-mooneythey have been providing the tickets since the dev summit days16:22
sean-k-mooneythe delta here is that its virtual 16:23
sean-k-mooneybut they have been usign eventbrite for 9+ years16:23
frickleryes, I can kind of accept outsourcing that for an onsite event, but it seems inapproriate just to visit some zoom rooms16:24
sean-k-mooneywell you dont need to get a ticket16:26
sean-k-mooneythey are just using it for attendace mostly i think16:26
sean-k-mooneyno part of the event actully needed it in the past16:26
sean-k-mooneyits not tied into jitsi meet or zoom or the etherpads16:26
sean-k-mooneyso if you dont want just attend without it16:27
frickleryes, that's what I'm doing. I'm just put off a bit by the "register, it's free" claims, when actually it's "pay with your data"16:27
sean-k-mooneywell they are still bound by things like gdpr16:28
fricklerif they were, they wouldn't send mail to unverified addresses16:30
frickleranyway, enough ranting for today, /me eods16:31
