noonedeadpunkelurkki: I would suggest openstack-ansible instead https://docs.openstack.org/openstack-ansible/latest/ :p08:05
noonedeadpunkyoctozepto: yeah, replied. It's exactly what I had troubles with, but patch doesn't seem to cardinally fix thngs...08:05
noonedeadpunkit's more about testing when everything is in place for that08:06
yoctozeptonoonedeadpunk: no future user stealing permitted! :D08:09
yoctozeptobut yeah, let elurkki consider the available choices08:10
yoctozeptonoonedeadpunk: you sure it does not fix your problem? I feel they might be right in that it should be evaluated later because if it is evaluated when importing, then the config has not been loaded yet08:11
noonedeadpunkto be fair - kolla also a good choice. just depends on how much you like doker and what flexability of deployment you need :)08:11
noonedeadpunkyoctozepto: oh, I see what you mean. Yeah, might be you're right, and it will use real config now since we're inside function and config should be initiated now....08:12
noonedeadpunkbut still it would be awesome if we just don't run migration if taskflow is missing instead of running it without creating tables08:13
elurkkiI need to study both of those. OVN is quite important for me. Also not sure how to handle multiple sites. But yes, need standard VMs and Container support. Gathering full OpenStack with all bells and whistles is quite big task tough :)08:13
noonedeadpunkelurkki: kolla-ansible uses docker containers, while in openstack-ansible it's lxc ones (or bare metal also possible)08:14
elurkkiAh, indeed. Ok now I got it08:15
noonedeadpunkyoctozepto: so like if user hasn't defined taskflow.connection - he still would need to find a way to run this migration manually08:15
elurkkiSo the whole openstack is running over containers08:15
elurkkiJust like in current cephadm installation08:15
elurkkiBut yes, need to study and test08:16
elurkkiThanks a lot for pointers08:16
noonedeadpunkWith OSA you could do quick POC with AIO https://docs.openstack.org/openstack-ansible/latest/user/aio/quickstart.html I think the same thing should be available for kolla08:16
yoctozeptoyeah, our quickstart is https://docs.openstack.org/kolla-ansible/latest/user/quickstart.html08:36
yoctozeptoelurkki: yeah, it's containers everywhere :-)08:37
yoctozeptofor user containers I believe you are best off with kubernetes; perhaps via openstack magnum08:37
yoctozeptonoonedeadpunk: yeah, I think it's lame too; any idea how other projects do this? might check this later and nullify this migration for sanity08:38
noonedeadpunkor zun also an option - depending what are the needs08:39
noonedeadpunkyoctozepto: nah, not really, never had to check that tbh :(08:39
yoctozeptonoonedeadpunk: the issue with zun is that users don't know it; as long as it doesn't emulate kubernetes it's unlikely to get much attention; that's the hardship of life when you have a strong competitor (like k8s)08:41
yoctozeptonoonedeadpunk: ack, no problem; will check myself; feels odd to have this weirdness08:41
noonedeadpunkbut you can use kata with zun :p08:42
noonedeadpunkI guess you can with k8s as well...08:42
* noonedeadpunk not containers big fan08:42
yoctozeptonoonedeadpunk: yet advertises lxc :P10:02
noonedeadpunkppl loves containers - can nothing to do about it :p just picking less painfull in maintenance option10:15
