dulekrm_work: Right, thanks! So there's nothing really special, the only thing that would worry me a bit is that when you use one LB to drive Services A with IP A' on port X and B with IP B' on port Y, then when attaching IP's of A and B to the LB, we get Service A on B':X, which is weird and might interfere with network policies (K8s SG's).07:12
rm_workhmm yeah07:13
rm_workit's really more designed for dual-ip-stack07:13
rm_workv4/v607:13
dulekrm_work: Sure! We'll think that through with Kuryr team.07:14
dulekjohnsom: Yes, services might be multi-port, and to be honest I haven't known about setting my own clusterIP (though it makes sense).07:14
dulekjohnsom: The problem is we cannot really require users to construct their Services yamls that way - a lot of people just use yamls prepared for the applications they're trying to run - think someone just uses openstack-helm to run OpenStack on K8s.07:17
dulekLimiting our options here would mean that a lot of apps would not be possible to be run.07:17

tomtom001Hello, I'm running Openstack Queens with Octavia for loadbalancing.  I'm trying to create a l7 policy and rule that will redirect port 80 to 443 (https). I used the example show in the documentation: http://www.example.com gets redirected to https://www.example.com.  However, in my particular app once I log in the site redirects to http://www.example.com/main; then I assume the loadbalancer14:56
tomtom001redirects to https://www.example.com so I end up in a redirect loop.  I'd like the policy and rule to NOT rewrite the path to / when redirecting.  Is that possible?  Is it possible to have the rule just rewrite the URL and PATH as https??14:56
johnsomtomtom001 REDIRECT_PREFIX will do that.14:57
johnsomHowever that is in Stein14:58
johnsomYou can also do a REDIRECT_TO_URL for the /main path as a work around15:00

johnsomOk, cool. Is it a devstack or a full OpenStack deployment?16:19

johnsom#link https://docs.openstack.org/octavia/latest/contributor/guides/dev-quick-start.html16:20

johnsom#link https://github.com/openstack/octavia/blob/master/devstack/plugin.sh16:20

johnsomjrosser Hi, what is your question?16:23
ajay33ok johnsom, I will put my queries here :)16:23
jrosserwe have a jenkins pipeline running which is producing new amphora, and i'd like some advice about the correct credential to be using to authenticate with keystone to upload / replace the existing image16:23
jrosserit feels almost like there could be an octavia role in keystone specifically for this?16:23
johnsomjrosser The credentials you are using in your [service_auth] section of the octavia.conf.16:24
johnsomThose are the credentials we will use when talking to nova, so the image should be visible to that user/project in glance.16:25
jrosserright - i was a bit uneasy about extracting a quite powerful credential and embedding it in an external CI, whose job is to just bake and upload images16:26
*** rpittau is now known as rpittau|afk16:26
johnsomAre you using "admin" for your [service_auth]? I could see that being a bit scary yes. If you are using an "octavia" account, then it's less concerning, but still could impact the load balancers.16:28
johnsomYou could also setup custom RBAC on glance to allow a non-privileged account to upload and set the project_id on it. (At least I would assume you can. I have not looked at the glance RBAC)16:29
jrosser[service_auth] has an octivia user in this case16:29
jrosserand yes i was wondering really if there was any existing best practice for using RBAC for this16:29
johnsomLooks like the glance policy documentation is a bit light16:31
johnsom#link https://docs.openstack.org/glance/stein/admin/policies.html16:31
johnsomMaybe ask about it in the  glance IRC or on openstack-discuss16:31
jrosserok, i think why i was nervous is that th octavia user is an admin in the service project16:32
jrosseri will check the RBAC docs some more, thanks for the tips16:32
johnsomSure, NP16:32
johnsomjrosser The "sharing" capability might also help.16:33
johnsom#link https://docs.openstack.org/api-ref/image/v2/index.html#sharing16:33
johnsomNot sure though, I haven't used it.16:33
jrosseroh interesting yes - that could work too16:34
johnsomThen in Octavia set octavia_amp_image_owner_id such that it considers the other owner ID as valid16:35
