bbezak | did you follow the upgrade procedure? - https://docs.openstack.org/kolla-ansible/2023.2/reference/message-queues/rabbitmq.html#high-availability | 08:11 |

bbezak | frickler kevko Unfortunately I can't chair meeting today. do you want me to cancel today's meeting? | 08:14 |

opendevreview | Merged openstack/kolla-ansible master: CI: IPV6 - Enable Prometheus in IPV6 scenario https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla-ansible/+/940062 | 09:55 |
yosef | Hi guys, two questions, in kolla-ansible yoga(and maybe newer versions), why enabling om_enable_rabbitmq_high_availability will enable durable queues on all services without any option to disable it? | 10:08 |
yosef | and ha-all policy is deprecated in rabbit 4.X and i dont see any deprecation or update note related to removing om_enable_rabbitmq_high_availability option in later versions from yoga in kolla-ansible change logs!, should it be mentioned at some point? | 10:10 |
kevko | frickler: bbezak: I am ok with it, I want to just ask you guys, can we merge quorum queues, streams ? | 10:18 |
kevko | frickler: bbezak: this relation chain https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla-ansible/+/940498 | 10:19 |
dcapone2004 | bbezak: my question is whether I can upgrade by going from KA 16.7.1 directly to 17.7 or if I need to stop at 17.0 and/or other intermediate releases ... i am aware of the rabbitmq changes and needed preconfiguration ... i could not find a definitive answer in the docs to this question | 11:26 |
dcapone2004 | likewise if going the SLURP route, can I go directly to the latest release in a new series or do I need to stop at the X.0 release first? | 11:28 |
dcapone2004 | latest the docs say to use KA DEPLOY to upgrade....is this a change and a stop is needed? historically I have used KA UPGRADE | 11:31 |
bbezak | in general I'd suggest to update first to latest version on current release - CI tests only latests source (not tag) version. Do all steps outlined in release notes - like rabbitmq migrations etc. and then do the upgrade to latest next release (again best is source). or slurp like you mentioned - which is also tested in CI | 11:31 |

dcapone2004 | bbezak: yes I am on latest release in 2023.1, question was whether I needed to go to 17.0 first or if I could jump directly to latest release of 17.7... sounds like I can update rabbitmq and jump right to 17.7 | 14:33 |
bbezak | yes. from latest 2023.1 you can jump to latest 2023.2 or 2024.1 (via slurp) | 14:57 |
