fricklermeh, centos+rocky look all broken12:10
fricklerlooks like the same epel mirror issue that osa complained about earlier in #opendev https://062b194e5e6e841b5adf-7651d79ea360a4aa04fbe96029f7a5e2.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/656603/4/gate/kolla-ansible-rocky9-source/b2fede2/primary/logs/build/000_FAILED_mariadb-server.log12:17
fricklermaybe someone would like to check upstream mirror status and possibly find some better mirror for infra to rsync from12:18
opendevreviewMerged openstack/kolla-ansible master: Default to Rocky Linux instead of CentOS Stream  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla-ansible/+/86069212:20
fricklermnasiadka: that issue isn't expected to be resolved by rechecking12:32
mnasiadkaah, that's EPEL mirror, I have overlooked that12:33
mnasiadkathought these are the unmirrored Rocky repos12:33
dcapone2004question on KA version numbering …. I am trying to install Zed on Rocky Linux in an AIO as a dev server...I noticed that the master branch seems to be using version 14.1.xxx … when this goes to release, I am assuming this will be version 15.0, correct?13:08
dcapone2004or am I off in the version numbering13:08
mnasiadkaYes, but we recommend installing directly from git stable branches13:27
dcapone2004ok, the current documentation points to using the master branch, so maybe this is a documentation error....what is the current git stable branch for zed?13:28

mnasiadkadcapone2004: current documentation for master branch13:50
mnasiadkalatest stable release for kolla-ansible is Yoga13:50
mnasiadkawe haven't done a release yet13:50
dcapone2004ok, I misunderstood...you meant when a release occurs, you recommend using git instead of the versioned pip13:51
mnasiadkayes13:53
mnasiadkawe are trying to release often since some time, but...13:53
mnasiadkato get newest fixes (and newest bugs) you should use the stable branch ;-)13:54
mnasiadkamgoddard mnasiadka hrw yoctozepto bbezak parallax Fl1nt frickler adrian-a kevko - meeting in 6 minutes13:54
dcapone2004does the latest stable yoga support RL 9 yet?  I tried the pip 14.5 and it didn't...purpose of this dev environment is to test RL9 with openstack and eventually some migration testing...so maybe I need to just wait a bit13:56
mnasiadkaNo, RL9 will be first in Zed once it's released13:58
mnasiadkaand we'll backport to Yoga (actually I should start doing that)13:58
dcapone2004ok thanks...I'll shut up now to not interrupt your meeting13:59
dcapone2004:-)13:59

mnasiadka* Open discussion14:02
mnasiadka#topic CI status14:02
mnasiadkaI think we have some gate breakage due to EPEL 914:02
frickleryes, do we want to wait or make stuff non-voting?14:03
mnasiadkawell, probably most of the patches would be happier if we would really build and publish - and most of them are rocky9 related14:04
mnasiadkais it going to fix itself, or is someone proposing to change the mirror in the config?14:04
fricklernot sure yet, this has happened before, but I'm not involved in any redhatty things14:05
fricklerfinding a stable, reliable mirror might be helpful14:06
mnasiadkaok, I'll check on #opendev after the meeting14:06
mnasiadka#topic Release tasks14:06
mnasiadkaSo, basically before we branch and release an rc1 - for kolla/kolla-ansible we need OpenSearch merged (still in progress, I'll add some CI to it), for kayobe we need Rocky Linux 9 patch - and probably OpenSearch followup - in progress, bbezak working on it14:07
mnasiadkabbezak: any progress?14:07
bbezakbeen caught up in customer work this week, will progress later this week. Got some input from ebbex 14:08
mnasiadkagreat14:08
mnasiadkado we have any other patches that need to be merged in Zed?14:09
mnasiadkaI know we assumed systemd, but now that we have review velocity problems - it might be complicated14:09
mnasiadkaok, seems none14:10
mnasiadka#topic Current cycle planning14:10
mnasiadkaCurrent probably means Antelope14:10
mnasiadkaI'll tidy up PTG notes this week and send out a summary on the ML14:11
mnasiadkaI'll also populate whiteboard with priorities for this cycle14:11
opendevreviewIvan Halomi proposed openstack/ansible-collection-kolla master: Adding podman support  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ansible-collection-kolla/+/85224014:11
mnasiadka#topic Additional agenda (from whiteboard)14:12
mnasiadka(jhorstmann) adding grafana loki (https://grafana.com/oss/loki/) as an additional log store to kolla/kolla-ansible14:12
mnasiadkaadditional details on https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/KollaWhiteBoard#L5314:12
jhorstmannyes, we have been looking at grafana loki for our log management and would like to add it to our stack, which we deploy with kolla14:13
jhorstmannso, the question is wether kolla would be interested in having support for loki upstream?14:13
mnasiadkaI think yes, given we find reviewers to review and guide you towards merging this14:14
mnasiadkaWhat is the storage backend Loki would need?14:14
fricklerI heard about loki some time ago and it sounds interesting to me. I didn't look closer yet, but I sure would be interested in looking at it in more detail14:14
mnasiadkaLooking at https://grafana.com/docs/loki/latest/operations/storage/ - doesn't ring a bell which one would be easy to add to k/k-a14:15
jhorstmannthere are a lot of different backends (https://grafana.com/docs/loki/latest/storage/), but we thought about starting just with local storage14:15
jhorstmannoverriding the config to use a different backend should be straight forward. e.g. an existing object store14:16
mnasiadkaI think we need to make sure local storage would work for HA14:16
jhorstmannthat might be a problem14:16
jhorstmannloki does not have a builtin replication mechanism and relies on a distributed storage backend for HA14:17
mnasiadkaThat means we're left with either Object Storage or adding Apache Cassandra14:17
fricklerwould be interesting to know whether "S3" also means it works on RGW14:17
jhorstmannfrickler: I have not tested that, but I think it should14:18
fricklerbut for starting, local storage would be fine IMO14:18
mnasiadkaon a single node - well for starting probably yes, and then we can sort out the implementation issues14:19
mnasiadkaanyway, jhorstmann can you add something about it on https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/kolla-antelope-ptg#L215 - I'll add it to cycle priorities with your name on it - and we'll see how it goes14:19
jhorstmannsure, will do14:20
mnasiadkathanks14:20
mnasiadkaAnother topic14:20
mnasiadka(mnasiadka) Review velocity14:20
mnasiadkaI think with Radek away (or spending minimum amount of time on reviews) - we're going to get soon in a spot that we would not like to be14:21
mnasiadkacurrently me and hrw are raising k/k-a patches - that need a third person to merge them - especially those patches that are needed for Zed release14:21
fricklerI can do some, but I'm really not comfortable approving rocky patches14:23
fricklerI can ask cberendt whether he can spare some time, but I expect him to be similarly reluctant on that topic14:23
mnasiadkaI understand, and we're not going to be able to reach the same velocity as before soon14:23
fricklerso the question then might be whether we should agree to single-approve certain things14:24
mnasiadkaShort term probably we should - for Rocky/CentOS based things14:24
mnasiadkain the meantime I'll try to bring more SHPC colleagues to start doing reviews often - so in a couple of months time we could get more core reviewers - but unfortunately from the same company as me14:25
fricklerand longer term if no cores interested in rocky turn up, that might be a reason to consider deprecating it again14:25
fricklerwe cannot maintain things without reviewers14:25
mnasiadkaWell, StackHPC promised to do CentOS/Rocky in Kolla/Kolla-Ansible - so I think we need to step up and have more core reviewers in a longer term14:27
mnasiadkaBut with that direction, we'll need to raise exception on the single-company-commit rule for CentOS/Rocky14:27
mnasiadkais that fine?14:27
fricklerfine for me14:27
mnasiadkaok then, we have some path forward14:28
mnasiadkathanks14:28
mnasiadka#topic Open discussion14:28
mnasiadkaDo we have any open points for today?14:28
fricklerjust mentioning that the discussion about the next ptg has started14:29
frickler#link https://openinfrafoundation.formstack.com/forms/openinfra_ptg_202314:29
mnasiadkaAh right, I saw the discussion around having PTG colocated with Summit14:29
mnasiadkaI think still for Kolla projects - we would prefer to have that remotely in the usual timeframe14:30
* frickler won't travel anywhere, so it is virtual or nothing for me14:30
fricklerI also added a comment about extending the timeframe to reduce overlap. if the TC can do, why should other projects not follow their lead?14:30
fricklerbut maybe I'm also just a weird unicorn with all my involvement14:31
mnasiadkaMight be, I don't have an opinion - but having a PTG in June just before the vacation season seems like loosing some time14:32
ramona-beermann[m]then we are two unicorns :)14:32
mnasiadkaAnyway, let's see how the discussion evolves - and fill out the form for those interested14:33
mnasiadkaI don't see any other topics being raised - so let's finish for today14:34
mnasiadkaThanks for coming!14:34
