rpittaugood morning ironic! o/08:20
songwenping__hi, team, how can i run ironic tempest on my own env?08:27
songwenping__this cmd 'tempest run --regex ironic_tempest_plugin --concurrency=6' return oslo_config.cfg.NoSuchOptError: no such option baremetal in group [DEFAULT]08:32
rpittauI think the new sushy-tools size is making metal3 integration job happy https://zuul.opendev.org/t/openstack/build/3f392ebb19ad44a4b59edfc5c00a8f08/log/controller/system/df--h.txt08:42
rpittauwe should probably merge https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ironic/+/905133 08:43

TheJuliagood  morning14:21
JayFtoo bad song is gone :( was going to try and help15:01
TheJuliaJayF: the error seems weird....15:54
TheJulialike the config is not there but the test is O.O15:54
JayFYep. Was going to dig into what doc was being used.15:54
JayFAttack it from that perspective b/c we should have a path to making that work documented (and at one point, the doc did work)15:55
TheJuliayeah15:55
rpittaugood night! o/17:05
TheJuliaHas anyone done iPXE with jumbo frames?17:21
JayFIf you're looking for a "should I expect it to work", my understanding is "yes" and I think it's been used in environments I've worked in17:25
JayFif you're looking for someone with knowledge, I don't remember any details to be of use but am happy to be a sounding board17:25
TheJuliawell, it sounds like a customer has an environment where they configured it, and it didn't quite work as expected, and now they've forced the mtu down to 1500 bytes but have a external RA announcing jumbo frames still so... that seems like it will be problematic until fixed17:26
TheJuliacould also just be the hardware in the UEFI firmware states too17:26
TheJuliadunno17:26
JayFIf everything involved has high MTUs, it should be *impossible* for iPXE to break it17:27
JayFhmmm I guess that's not true17:27
JayFbecause how do you configure the MTU in ipxe?17:27
TheJuliain theory, the RA17:27
TheJuliaI'm wondering if it is something with the firmware, I've yet to get a packet capture to look at the overall flow17:28
JayFso you're relying on the UEFI boot rom / PXE rom / NIC driver therein to understand that DHCP/RA option17:28
JayFthat is likely where the fulcrum of support is; not ipxe17:28
TheJuliabut I think that would tell us very quickly what exactly is going wrong17:28
JayFhttps://github.com/ipxe/ipxe/discussions/691 appears to confirm what we're saying17:28
TheJuliayup, that aligns17:30
TheJuliaokay, now for some music and the ironic-inspector code17:30
timeuTheJulia: FYI: we also had issues with Jumbo frames (in our Cisco SDN MTU is typically set to 9000) and ironic provisioning with iPXE (this was on Lenovo SD530 hardware with onboard 1G Nic. Didn't test Mlx Connect x5). We had to reduce the provisioning network's MTU to 1500. 19:33
TheJuliatimeu: thanks for the additional data point!19:34
