iurygregorygood morning Ironic11:32
MikeCTZAtrying to figure out how to debug an IPA (I think) problem, this is follow on from my yesterday chat, with uefi, the server boots, pxes, tftps then I get a grub screen with 1 choice "master", that then goes away and I get a new grub screen with "deploy, boot_partition, boot_ramdisk, boot_whole_disk" default and one I want is deploy but that then crashes the BIOS, so trying to see if I can figure out what's causing that, 11:46
MikeCTZAI'm not that familiar with uefi/ipa/boot process to know where I should start11:46
Sandzwerg[m]You could try to put the node in maintenance when pxe is starting, then login in into the IPA via console and try to do the steps manually. But I'm still confused by the deploy grub screen. With our (self build) IPA I see after pxe a normal kernel boot screen, then a blank console and after a short while the node reboots13:09
MikeCTZAyeah I have similar with the BIOS stuff so I'm not sure why I have this, will see what I can figure out tmrw as it's home time for me now13:18
TheJuliaGood morning13:23
* TheJulia wipes sleep from eyes13:23
* TheJulia begins caffination13:27
TheJuliaI've seen that sort of stuff when the kernel doesn't play nice with the hardware and vise-versa13:28
TheJuliagenerally, the troubleshooting path is ipmi serial console13:28
TheJuliabecause you can get more from it. you may need to try and add the kernel argument console=ttyS0 to the kernel command line, since it sounds like you get into grub just fine, it is post-grub when it tries to launch the kernel when things go sideways13:29
*** iurygregory_ is now known as iurygregory14:25
TheJuliaoh deploy templates, why you no like me16:00
rpittauI'm trying to troubleshoot the snmp-pxe job on ubuntu jammy but I think I've exhausted my resources for today16:09
JayFrpittau: how/where is it failing? You wanna give me some context and I'll see if I can unearth new info16:09
rpittauJayF: thanks, I'm hitting the wall since a while now16:11
rpittauthe job is failing in the patch to move the CI to ubuntu jammy https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ironic/+/86905216:11
rpittauthe only thing that I can see is a "No bootable device" in the console logs after when the vm should load from disk16:11
rpittauwondering if there's something with the new libvirt version that needs a change in the config16:11
JayFhmm16:11
rpittauI thougt it was maybe the new virtualpdu, but it's not, it works on focal16:12
JayFI'll look thru it, no promises I'll find it but maybe I'll find something16:13
rpittauthanks!16:14
rpittauone more pair of eyes can always help :)16:14
rpittausee ya tomorrow! o/16:14
TheJuliaJayF: email sent w/r/t postgres17:31
JayFty17:32
JayFrpittau: I'm seeing evidence of virtualpdu shenanigans17:59
JayFrpittau: https://bpa.st/XWKOQ18:01
JayFhttps://github.com/l4rz/reverse-engineering-dell-idrac-to-get-rid-of-gpu-throttling this is pretty cool19:03
JayFfrom a tech perspective; not much use it can be to us, but it's cool19:03
TheJuliaInteresting...19:19
* JayF has wheels in motion for some interesting, unique swag for Ironic to bring to OpenInfra19:38
JayFI'll mail it out to core contributors who can't be there, obviously :)19:39
TheJuliaawesome19:59
