ravirjnHi, I am trying to deploy Redhat Queens for POC purpose. When I am running introspection of overcloud servers, for Dell R610 servers it is successful, but for Dell R630 it is failing at TFTP, however it is receiving IP from PXE server. In /var/log/messages I am seeing "Error code 0: TFTP Aborted". What am I missing? Please help.05:22
TheJuliaravirjn: sounds like selinux is blocking access to the files in tftp....05:25
TheJuliaravirjn: just a thought, but if you can test with temporarily disabling selinux, it might provide more insight.05:26

TheJuliakbaegis: an unreachable ipv6 address?12:42
kbaegishttp://paste.openstack.org/show/752809/12:44
TheJuliakbaegis: I think you can override that config... the default socket is to bind to a dual purpose socket and ultimately v4 clients can connect to the v6 socket as long as the host is reachable and ti is not bound to the loopback12:45

dtantsurrpioso: he's the stable team person, and I'm just a regular core, but okay. So, let's decide. The requirement of setting boot_mode in capabilities has been there since the appearance of the UEFI support, and is currently documented at https://docs.openstack.org/ironic/latest/install/advanced.html#boot-mode-support13:52
*** ricolin_ has joined #openstack-ironic13:52

rpiosodtantsur: When was writing boot_mode added to in-band inspection?13:53
dtantsurI don't quite remember, why?13:53
rpiosodtantsur: As a user, I would expect similar behavior from in-band and out-of-band inspection.13:54
rpiosodtantsur: That applies to boot_mode, too.13:54
*** whoami-rajat has quit IRC13:55
rpiosodtantsur: That is, the requirement that it be set or not.13:55
dtantsurWe've never promised that, it has never been the case and it will never be the case. They're just too different, and ironic-inspector diverges on purpose in such critical aspects as which ports to enroll.13:55
*** ricolin has quit IRC13:55
rpiosodtantsur: I would appreciate your vote on the change.13:56
TheJuliaI would like to highlight inspection is entirely optional13:58
TheJuliain your specific workflow it might not be, but it truly is optional13:58
rpiosoTheJulia: Sure, but boot_mode isn't for UEFI.13:58
TheJuliaNot even really then, it all depends on the composition of the environment and the way the operator or installer has configured it along with what information they supply.14:00
dtantsurFWIW I'd be more open to the iDrac driver enforcing a boot mode that is set on ironic (if it's possible)14:00

TheJuliaIt is certainly possible... I guess my huge concern is we're basically going back and forth on patches that fit in a very gray area, and we have been bitten by that push for gray area patches thus far when we could be collaborating on enforcing boot mode or supporting virtual media so we can get that into the hands of ironic's users.14:05

kbaegisFound another bug in the redfish/management driver16:34
openstackgerritIlya Etingof proposed openstack/sushy-tools master: Add Indicator LED resource emulation  https://review.opendev.org/65593616:34

kbaegisSorry, first link is useless. Basically, we have another optional redfish specification that the driver/interface is written to assume non-DMTF mandatory components are implemented16:36

kbaegisInteresting. So using the tftp service via the conductor, I’m geting pxe timeouts18:46
kbaegisAlso- conductor api_url is deprecated? I need that18:47
kbaegisIt’s how standalone knows how to populate agent_api_url isn’t it?18:47
*** tesseract has quit IRC18:54

jrollkbaegis: we now get agent_api_url via the service catalog, I think18:59
* jroll will look in a sec19:00
kbaegisjroll: Thanks for looking. What about standalone, which doesn’t use keystone?19:00
jrollgood quesiton19:00
kbaegisThat would seemingly invalidate that entire use-case if I’m not mistaken19:01
jrollkbaegis: oh, did you read the deprecation message? "Use [service_catalog]endpoint_override"19:03
jrollhttps://github.com/openstack/ironic/blob/0f03a8436c5936aed427cb9c6ebc61a4567b4a05/ironic/conf/conductor.py#L3619:04
kbaegisjroll: Oh. In ironic.conf?19:04
jrollyep19:04
kbaegisjroll: Maybe you can validate for me: you still need an external tftp/dhcp/web server with ironic standalone?19:07
kbaegisBut the tftp directory should be synced with/managed by the pxe interface?19:07
kbaegisThe conductor doesn’t provide any services there does it?19:08
jrollkbaegis: that all sounds correct, yes19:10
jrollnot 100% sure about the web server19:10
jrolldepends on the deploy driver, I guess19:10
kbaegisI’m using pxe19:10
*** Goneri has joined #openstack-ironic19:14
jrollpxe is a boot driver, 'direct' or 'iscsi' are the deploy driver options19:17
jrollI think you only need the external web server for 'direct' deploy19:17
kbaegisjroll: How is the device selected for direct? Does it just pick the first drive?19:23

TheJuliarpioso: The 3rd party CI hosts that you guys are running ironic against, can you let me know what the firmware version is. We have some folks that have upgraded to latest and they are seeing lots of intermittent ipmi issues which are almost crippling their ability to use IPMI.21:51
