clarkbpabelanger: there are two major pieces you need (I think), first is what we use ansible for, a sane way to execute code in multiple places and orchestrate them together. The other is that openstack and tempest expect routable "public" IPs for VMs to exist. Since our test VMs aren't assigned network blocks they manage themselves we achieve doing that by setting up a network overlay with GRE that is15:30
clarkbdisconnected from teh world where we can assign whatever IPs we like15:30

fungihyakuhei: the reason you probably don't see them is that they come by default with the python-jobs template in zuul/layout.yaml. specifically that template adds gate-{name}-docs, gate-{name}-pep8 and gate-{name}-python27 jobs to the check and gate pipelines for a project. for anchor it looks like you initially forewent the python-jobs template in favor of directly adding gate-anchor-pep8 and20:03
fungigate-anchor-python27, presumably to avoid adding those docs jobs20:03

clarkbJayF: because we have that owrking now21:20
jrollclarkb: so yeah, I share your concern that onmetal doesn't solve a real problem here21:20
jrollclarkb: we do, that's where it came from21:20
JayFclarkb: We do write out a config drive, but we have a patch for cloud-init to configure our network devices.21:21
clarkbJayF: ya, mordred went and wrote an entirely new config system that is opinionated and simple but also supports your thing21:21
JayFclarkb: including support for bonding and vlans?21:21
jrollclarkb: glean or whatever would probably need some updates, but should be small21:21
clarkbJayF: pretty sure, since they are trying to use it for the bifrost infra cloud deployment which needs vlans too21:22
mordredJayF: we're vlans are in work, bonding can be added if you want21:22
JayFHm. Interesting.21:22
mordredlike, actually21:22
mordredglean supports vlans21:22
mordredbut bifrost is still learning to write them out21:22
jrollI don't think taking a rackspace base image and modifying it to use glean would be much work tbh21:22
mordredI did not add bonding when I added vlans - but it took me about 30 minutes to add vlans - so I'm game :)21:22
clarkbis it just lacp? in the simple case that should just work with a derped unbonded remote right?21:22
clarkbI may be misremembering how resilient it is21:23
JayFclarkb: You are :)21:23
jrolland then it's rescue mode, lift the image off, make it vhd, upload to glance21:23
jeblairclarkb, fungi, mordred21:23
JayFclarkb: if you have both interfaces up, and one isn't participating in the bond, it's unhappy21:23
jeblairgah21:23
clarkbjroll: wait you vhd too?21:23
fungiclarkb: what, configuring 802.3ad on one end of a single channel and not the other?21:23
mordredjroll: why would you vhd?21:23
jrollclarkb: "upload images to rackspace glance" only supports vhd :(21:23
mordred*headdesk*21:23
clarkbjroll: please you aren't using xen for onmetal so you should use a proper image format21:23
jrollbecause $raisins21:23
jrolldude21:23
mordredjroll: dude21:23
JayFclarkb: mordred: FWIW, we do use qcow images for OnMetal21:24
jrollnot my call21:24
jrolland also yeah what he said21:24
JayFclarkb: mordred: Glance public API for Rackspace doesn't support uploading anything but VHDs.21:24
jrollit's just CUSTOM images are only supported with vhd21:24
clarkbfungi: its supposed to be fault tolerant I thought it would handle packets from the other side especially since it doesn't do much for loop detectio nright?21:24
jeblairclarkb, fungi, mordred: in ovh to use the openstack api, you create a user inside of your tenant.  so we now have an account, with two tenants (openstackjenkins and openstackci), the openstackjenkins tenant has a nodepool user.  i will add those creds to hiera (they are already in the password store)21:24
clarkbfungi: clearly I am wrong21:24
mordredjroll: well, I understand the $raisins, but still *headdesk*21:24
openstackgerritGlauco Oliveira proposed openstack-infra/puppet-diskimage_builder: Add acceptance tests for puppet-diskimage_builder.  https://review.openstack.org/22026221:24
jrollmordred: yeah.21:24
jrollclarkb: at least with the way our switches are configured, you need the bond. but it isn't like, hard21:24
mordredjroll: other than config-drive/glean - is there anything else special I'd have to do to upload an imagE?21:24
mordredjroll: because I can already make vhd images with glean in them that read rackspace config-drive :)21:25
JayFmordred: I'm pretty sure you can't set the flags on an image to make it bootable via onmetal21:25
fungiclarkb: i've definitely seen misconfigured link aggregation like that _not_ work in the past, so no idea under what circumstances it might but i wouldn't bet lunch on it21:25
jrollmordred: a couple glance metadata things... and then making sure it actually boots21:25

fungiclarkb: we should corner pabelanger and russellb and get them to decide whether asterisk would do better on ubuntu trusty or centos 723:02
openstackgerritClark Boylan proposed openstack-infra/system-config: Switch to centos7 git01 and git02 hosts  https://review.openstack.org/22034023:03
russellbfungi: clarkb pabelanger i actually don't know of an asterisk package for centos 7 ... so that might make it easy23:03
greghaynesoh, I should poke at the dib arm stuff so we can make images for pbx voice bridges at summit23:03
russellbasterisk.org and EPEL both still only do centos 623:03
fungirussellb: hah! indeed it might23:03

clarkb(we are also slowly trying to stop using precise and move to trusty)23:04

pabelangerrussellb: fungi: we _could_ build one.  But, trusty might just be easier23:04
russellbpabelanger: we could, but likely not the best use of our time23:04

russellbpabelanger: i did ping jcollie about the status of the EPEL package for centos 7, got no reply *shrug*23:05
fungipabelanger: also trusty would make the pbx server no longer our odd-man-out in a network full of ubuntu systems23:05
russellbpabelanger: k23:05
pabelangerfungi: Ya, moving to ubuntu seems fine to me23:06
pabelangerfungi: just for that reason alone23:06
russellbin the end, i defer to pabelanger since i figure he'll help more than me :)23:06
docaedois the next gerrit downtime scheduled for 9/8? I just want to make sure I coordinate with folks when app-catalog repo gets moved (and we wanted to rename from apps-catalog to app-catalog at the same time, to handle the rename at the same time as the move)23:06
