mordredclarkb: something about this set of patches you had to make seems clunky to me. I don't have a suggestion for how we rework things, and I don't think it's important to00:38

clarkbI thnik it is as well00:38
mordredclarkb: any reason I should hold off on +A's on this stack?00:39

clarkbwe want to do first change, let zuul update, do second change, let jenkins update, then do third change00:39
clarkband each step may require debugging00:39
clarkbso I think we will wait for tomorrow when jeblair and sdague are more around too00:40
clarkbmordred: I think the abstraction we are having trouble with is we define the node in two places00:40
clarkbmordred: we should move towards only having zuul set the node00:40
clarkbmordred: but, I am doing it this way to hopefully give us a little extra protection against breakage00:40
clarkbas removing the node labels from jjb now would make all the test fail that get the wrong node00:40

mattoliverauafazekas: it's not about allocating nodes directly, looks like there was/is a bug with devstack on F20 nodes. They get to the top of the gate queue and stop everything from moving forwards. Because hold up got big we reached quota on how many nodes we can create. Moving F20 nodes into the experimental took them off the check and gate pipelinse allowing the stuck/queued changes to start flowing again.06:22

salv-orlandoHi I remember a recent communication re: not merging changes like https://review.openstack.org/#/c/101112/ because the gate was backed up.09:58
salv-orlandoIt seems quite quiet right now - but I was wondering if we’d still refrain from merging this kind of patches.09:59
salv-orlandoI really have no opinion, because changes like these really dont add neither remove anything, apart from granting free summit tickets.09:59

clarkbJayF: in the job itself say The image from this job can be found at :21:29
clarkbJayF: or you can just publish in a knwn location and document on eg the wiki21:29
clarkbJayF: but ya that looks good. You will need to add it to zuul as well21:30

Kiallsoren: heya - about? Hoping you can /join uvirtbot into #openstack-dns :)21:30
clarkbJayF: it will not21:31
clarkbJayF: you could add a step to the build that does md5sums and also puts the git sha in a file and copy those too21:31
JoshNangclarkb: also, does this only get run every time something is merged or on each change request?21:31
clarkbJoshNang: right now that change won't run the test ever :) so that is something we can think about and add in the appropriate way21:32
clarkbJoshNang: I think it should only publish whenever something is merged21:32

*** lukego has quit IRC21:32

clarkbJayF: cool21:32
clarkbJayF: or wait21:32

JayFclarkb: basically an IPA developer shoudl be able to download the image created against a patch, drop it into devstack and run tests21:33
clarkbJayF: would they build the image locally?21:33
JayFand eventually we'd ramp up this test (once said devstack integration exists)21:33
JayFclarkb: they /could/ but I'd strongly prefer it be done by a builder21:33
clarkband you grab known good images off of the publishing site?21:33
clarkbhuh21:34
JayFclarkb: wdym by 'grab known good images'? Here's a workflow I'd envision:21:34
clarkbJayF: lets take the project sdist example21:34
clarkbwe build sdists for every proposed patch but do not publish them21:34
clarkbwhen you merge code the sdist is built again and published21:34
clarkbso we have known good sdists at all times21:34
JayFis there any way for a developer to 'get at' those sdists?21:34

*** lcheng has joined #openstack-infra21:35

clarkbbecause otherwise you will end up with hundreds of useless and large images to sort through21:35
JayFclarkb: *I* do the local builds of these images often, it was just said that many developers would like to have an agent image already available21:36
