clarkbbecause it is user configurable and special snowflakes aren't great. d-g in this case is basically a user doing config18:20

mordredclarkb: yes. we can mirror and track an 'upstream' repo with jeepyb (patch not landed yet)21:42

mordredproject X has a locatoin, let's call it github/X21:42

mordredthen, I make additional branches in my gerrit, say product/master21:44

scairbusyeah, I think so21:47
mordredexcellent21:47
mordredscairbus: there is an option in the projects.yaml file21:48
mordredfor you to be able to add a prefix to the branch names21:48
mordredso the other way you could organize21:48
mordredis to set target_prefix = upstream21:48
mordredand then when manage-projects pushes the branches, it will push to upstream/$branchname21:48
mordredso if you were to use this to mirror nova, for instance, you'd get upstream/master, upstream/stable/grizzly etc21:48
mordredso that you can do your dev locally on master and merge from upstream/master - if that makes more sense to your brain21:49
scairbusyeah, that could help21:49
mordredI'm trying to push a model internally where we treat openstack/nova:master as identical, and then put each prodcut divergence into its own branching namespace21:49

clarkbmordred: a github issue from 2 years ago says you cannot load balance individual pads because of the way etherpad lite buffers stuff in memory (local state)21:56
clarkbhttps://github.com/ether/etherpad-lite/issues/35721:56
fungibut lb on a hash of the url should work fine, i expect21:56
clarkbgetting in the ~180 client range is enough to make etherpad-dev fall over21:56

clarkbI think we should embargo it completely until we have a better story for requiring much newer versions of things like six23:18
clarkblast time we tried to bump six it caused problems all over because six is used everywhere. We need to be careful about sequencing23:18
mordredclarkb: well, I think the big key was that the version bump had an api conflict, no?23:19

mordredclarkb: answers to questions: reviewing things - dunno? If ttx proposes adding a new project to the list at some point in icehouse (say, such as savana)23:19

mordredbut yeah, I think it's still valuable23:20

clarkbmordred: I remember the six problem now23:22
* mordred needs to play with tag interactions - thinks that a tag of 2013.2 on the super repo should result in the corresponding release tags for the sub repos23:23
clarkbmordred: we wanted an upper bound, problem is projects that had not been updated with six would pull in newer version then something with the upper bound would fail to install23:23
clarkbmordred: so slightly different than the proposed change here23:23
