markguz_Folks, i'm reading the docs, but not i don't think what i'm looking for is possible.  Can we adopt an existing domain into designate?16:09
*** jawad_axd has quit IRC16:13
mugsiemarkguz_: yeah - you can use a domain import to do that16:24
mugsieyou need to get the dns entries in a text/dns format - how you do that will vary per provider16:25
markguz_ok. i think the penny is beginning to drop16:25
markguz_mugsie: i'll have a play around with that with a test domain. thanks for the pointer16:26

markguz_hi i've installed the agent on windows 2012r2 to use the MSDNS backend. It starts and runs ok, but it fails to axfr from the controller19:07
markguz_gets the error "attributeerror module object has no attribute query19:08
markguz_i did a git pull, checkout stable/train then "pip install ./"19:08
markguz_not sure what else i have to do?19:08
markguz_logs of the agent here http://paste.openstack.org/show/790954/19:10
markguz_agent config section: http://paste.openstack.org/show/790955/19:12
markguz_i tried with python 3.8 and python 2.719:13
markguz_both resulted in the same error19:13
mugsiemarkguz_: can you do a pip freeze? it loks like dnspython is not installed19:38
markguz_pip freeze says dnspython=1.16.019:40
markguz_mugsie: ^^19:41
mugsie:/19:41
mugsieOK, give me a few mins to trace19:41
mugsiewhat version of designate>19:41
mugsie?*19:41
markguz_tried master and stable/train both the same19:41
mugsiehumm. I cant see anything wrong - I would need to spin something up to test this - will have to do it at some point later19:50
markguz_mugsie: so it couldn't be a config setting then? I just feel like it must be something i'm doing wrong.. or i'm the only person trying to use msdns19:54
mugsieit is a ... less used ... driver19:56
mugsieI havent tested it in a while - dnspython could have a bug in windows or something19:56
markguz_i can imagine. i h8 windows dns. but it's a legacy thing that i inherited.  i might try delegating a subdomain to a bind server to play with it there.19:57
mugsieprobably a good plan to initial testing19:57
mugsieto do*19:57
mugsieI'll spin up a test in the next few days and see. if there is an issue, I am fairly sure cloudbase is still doing MS tooling support for OpenStack19:58
mugsieI can probably ping someone internally if they aren't19:58
markguz_mugsie: i'd appreciate that20:19
