gregoiremahe  Hello all, I've a question about dns neutron's drivers. What's the difference between dns and dns_domain_ports ? Actually, we plan to have a zone inside an admin tenant, linked to an external subnet (managed by the admin tenant). When a regular user creates a port on this public network, we want to create an A record on the admin zone (e.g. myport.mytenant.domain.com. Is that possible with designate ?06:27

mugsiegregoiremahe: not right now (needs shared zones, which is not complete yet :/ )09:57
mugsiedns dns_domain_ports are the same thing, the domain ports one actually needs the dns one, but allows you to set a different dns domain per port09:58
gregoiremahemugsie: Thanks for your answer :) So dns_domain_ports is like an extension for dns (dns_domain_ports loads dns drivers ?) , that means you mustn't load both, domain ports driver do it for us10:26
gregoiremaheIn neutron's config, we must setup a global zone name (dns_domain), why this is useful if there isn't shared zone yet ? Is this zone only for admin side ?10:26
*** pnull has joined #openstack-dns10:32
mugsiethe global zone is the fallback one, and generally will only work for an admin tenant10:34
mugsieI think you need to enable both extentions, but I am not 100% sure - the neutron people would knwo more10:35
fricklergregoiremahe: dns_domain_ports includes dns, see the top notes here https://docs.openstack.org/neutron/pike/admin/config-dns-int.html10:38

gregoiremaheThanks :) got it :) I saw this issue https://bugs.launchpad.net/neutron/+bug/1650678 , so above pike version we can setup a dns-domain field, plus dns-name field to ports to specify which fqdn we wants ? We are a cloud provider, and we have an external network shared (provided by an admin tenant). When a regular user creates a port for that shared network, does he'll be able to specify both dns-name and dns-domain ?11:36
