ducttape_I have a question for any of the designate cores - we would like to make a change where dns record creation uses a drop down of IPs from the tenants FIP list (instead of free form text field).   Would this be of interest to others?  Possibly via a config flag?13:56
*** pglass has joined #openstack-dns14:05

*** eandersson has joined #openstack-dns18:07
timsimWhen queries searching for a name have a left wildcard, they're very inefficient because they can't use an index. Having the reverse name allows you to do a indexed right wildcard search, which is much faster. It's used often when making sure a domain that you're trying to create is valid, ie not a sub/super domain of some domain owned by another tenant.18:08
timsimThat's really odd, I don't think i've ever seen that.18:08

Kialltimsim: yes! eventlet's tpool module should do what we want.. http://eventlet.net/doc/threading.html#tpool-simple-thread-pool ..22:55
Kiallit holds a pool of native threads where you can execute "stuff", it's not ideal in that it's global (and oslo.db can be told to share that same pool, N big imports with a pool size of N could hurt).. But it get's us closer22:56
KiallIf that proves painful, we can DIY a native threadpool using patcher.original('threading') to get the non-greened threading class, and then pretending eventlet doesn't exist22:57
Kiallre a new process, that's a tad heavy .. eventlet will "green the world" as it call's it, but you can always get the originals back to use the traditional stuff where necessary22:59
