chris218Hi 2 questions from a newbie, what is the lowest officially supported version of Python in OpenStack? And what is the stance on pyproject.toml as a replacement for setup.{py,cfg}01:41

fricklerchris218: for the current development cycle see https://governance.openstack.org/tc/reference/runtimes/2023.2.html#python-runtimes-for-2023-2 , so 3.8-3.10. note that downstream distribution may support additional versions, like Debian supporting and using python3.11 on Bookworm07:51
fricklerswitching the installation mechanism is difficult due to some convoluted history, I don't think any significant effort has been made in regard to this yet07:52
chris218frickler: Thanks for the response I was mostly interested in what is the lowest feature set I'd need to restrict myself to when contributing to projects :)19:44
chris218Also yea looking at it pbr has issues with pyproject.toml 19:44
