zykes-erasure codes ?12:54
sorenThink RAID-5.12:54
soren-ish.12:54
zykes-ok12:54
legkodymovYes, like double parity or Reed-Solomon12:54
legkodymovMoreover, Swift's 3 copies isn't the same as triple mirroring RAID112:56
sorenDue to its potential for inconsistencies?12:56
sorenOr in terms of durability? If the latter, please elaborate. :)12:57
legkodymovIt resembles RAID-6 with 100 drives in one pool12:57
legkodymovor even 1000 drives in one pool12:57
legkodymovIf 3 drives fails, part of data (1 partition) get lost12:57
sorenThree specific drives, yeah.12:58
sorenThat'll always be the case, though.12:58
sorenLose a specific set of drives, you lose some data.12:58

reedhi guys, is anybody still working on ATLAS the load balancer?17:04
ijwCan anyone tell me if there's any plans to change the number of interfaces that a new VM gets now Quantum's coming along?  Aiui, you get one interface per currently existing network segment when you create your VM, and it seems to me you ought to be able to override that to choose the number of interfaces you want when you do the instance creation in nova.17:04
