gaurangthi All, I'm trying out a PoC for replication with GPFS driver. One of the challenge I'm facing is - After primary fails and we fail over to secondary - the volumes created from primary are no more manageable from secondary unless we make changes in the database. Can we do something in the failover_host function in the driver so as to change the host attribute for the volumes are changed and we would be able to manage those volumes from secondary.15:28
gaurangtThoughts, suggestions?15:28

gaurangtthe condition in case of shared filesystem like GPFS is - we're running cinder volume service on two nodes each being the replication target of one another. When one of the host (node) fails, we can still access the volumes (sparse file on the filesystem) from secondary. But since the host attribute of that volume is not changed, the management of the volume is impacted.15:54

patrickeastgaurangt: ok, so maybe theres some confusion with the terminology we're throwing around. that sounds like you just have two cinder backends, not A-A c-vol's, but its an A-A storage backend16:46
gaurangtright16:46
patrickeastgaurangt: so like if you do 'cinder service-list' you see an entry for each one of those cinder volume nodes16:46
patrickeastgaurangt: so in that case when you failover you need to update the host entry for the volumes, but to your point you can't do that if the host is down16:46
