ThiagoCMCHey folks! Can someone check my comment here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/openstack-ansible/+bug/2047573/comments/3 - It's about Ceph 18 for Bobcat, documentation, and Ceph Ansible version in `stable/2023.2`.08:46
jrosserThiagoCMC: did you take a look at the changes in the "stable-8.0" branch of ceph-ansible?09:07
jrossersomething very odd is going on there, like the active development and very invasive changes are happening on a "stable" branch09:09
jrosseri have really no idea what the agenda is there from ibm, but they are changing all kinds of stuff09:09
jrosserthe ceph version is also influenced here https://github.com/openstack/openstack-ansible/blob/master/inventory/group_vars/all/ceph.yml#L3109:15
jrosserand you also should notice this https://github.com/openstack/openstack-ansible-openstack_hosts/blob/master/defaults/main.yml#L195-L20009:17
ThiagoCMCjrosser, yes, I am testing Ceph ansible `stable-8.0` independently from OSA, it works. Now, I'm trying to run it with the OSA All-on-One, but it's failing. I was tired yesterday when I realized this, but I'll work again on this today.09:28
jrosseryou will find that the config overrides don't work09:29
jrosserthey took that all out i think on stable-8.0?09:29
jrosserthe trouble with UCA is that the introduce new ceph versions in to the repo looooong after the release09:30
jrosserand this causes all sorts of either unexpected upgrade / downgrade / breakage sitatuons for OSA when they do that09:30
jrosserthat is why we have some complexity to pin the version currently to quincy09:30
ThiagoCMCHmmm... I don't know about the config overrides. It sounds like it's time to fork Ceph Ansible lol - But, I don't have resources to maintain it myself.09:31
ThiagoCMCYeah, I see now why OSA pinned to `stable-7.0`...  :-(09:31
jrosserUCA is not always the most helpful thing when they just drop new major versions in09:31
jrosserif you want to make a patch to install reef on master that would be great09:32
jrosserbobcat is already released with quincy from an OSA perspective09:32
ThiagoCMCI'll give it a try! I need this, badly. \o/09:32
jrosserimho you should be able to make it work today just with setting variables?09:33
ThiagoCMCLet's see what I can do for Ubuntu 24.04 with Ceph 18!09:33
ThiagoCMCAnother thing... Have you folks ever consider Lustre? https://fenix-ri.eu/news/lustre-integration-openstack-completed - I've never used before, sounds promising...09:35
jrossernoonedeadpunk: huuuge changes here in ceph-ansible https://github.com/ceph/ceph-ansible/commit/14b4abf7c002c1db4c80f85116651bb33b9645e4#diff-a57eaa1f236c68f6acc319d4f9710af8b513741d044e8dd4ddf544c1c7d09cefL14409:36
ThiagoCMCThanks for sharing this!09:40
*** tosky_ is now known as tosky09:40
jrosserwe need to decide if we keep the yoga->antelope jobs we did to figure out slurp upgrades10:01
fricklerjrosser: interesting, first they deprecated ceph-ansible and then they add new os support?10:01
jrosserfrickler: i have really no idea what is going on, deprecated, yet more development work than i have seen for years in ceph-ansible10:02
jrosserand anyone thinking to use stable-8.0 should be very very careful indeed10:02
fricklerbut also someone saying "welcome back", hmm https://github.com/ceph/ceph-ansible/pull/7484/files10:06
jrosser"Site Reliability Engineer at IONOS Cloud" aparrently10:11
ThiagoCMClol IBM sounds confused. Maybe people backlash the "Ceph is now container-only" thing.10:45

ThiagoCMCAre you guys seeing issues with Canonical? Launchpad is down, PPA are down (UCA)...11:39
ThiagoCMCLaunchpad.net is returning "504 Gateway Time-out", while `add-apt-repository ppa:ansible/ansible` hangs. Weird...11:51
jrosserlooks ok here at https://launchpad.net/openstack-ansible12:17
ThiagoCMCIt's back! The `add-apt-repository ppa:ansible/ansible` returned 503 after a while... It works now! Something happened.12:25
spatelHey I have created dhcp agent with single instance and now I want to change it to dhcp_agent_per_network=2  (can I do that without disturbing? ) 16:38
