When it come "nova-status upgrade check" command it give errors because of can not connect hostIP:8780 port. I did some search and i found sth about nova-placement . My openstack stein installation has no nova-placement container and i thought it gives an error because of this. Anyone can help ? How can i07:47

noonedeadpunk*when did you checkout10:21

jawad_axdHi folks! There is scenario, where I have to move users along with their projects from one openstack environment to another. Moving vms is possible, but what if I need to move their network topologies as well(routers, networks, ports etc ).In second environment, I have different endpoints, so taking backup of e.g neutron database and restoring on other will work?Just need some recommendation, dont want to mess up any thing13:02
jawad_axd.thanks13:02
jawad_axd*ofcourse changing endpoints after restoring backup ins econd environment13:04
jawad_axdOr creating topologies from scratch is only option?13:05
noonedeadpunkif only you'd use heat templates....13:06
noonedeadpunkbtw, how do you migrate vms? I can recall only moving disks across projects...13:07
jawad_axdRegarding heat templates, users created their own private topologies inside their projects. I mean, their vms can be backed up but their topologies ?13:09
jawad_axdI meant, moving between two separate openstack environments, not projects.13:10

cshenmoving between projects is already not easy.13:15
*** sep has joined #openstack-ansible13:16
cshenmoving between environments would be much harder. you need to understand each db structure.13:16
cshenbetter to re-deploy workload in the new enviornment, if everything is automated.13:17
jawad_axd@cshen Thanks. I guess, that is only option I have.13:20
cshenjawad_axd: no problem. we have multiple openstack environments. each env has different floating ip range. to copy the router/network topology doesn't make sense.13:22
cshenso we already ask our customer to move workload.13:22
cshenalready -> always13:23
jawad_axd@cshen Floating IP range would be different ofcourse. I am concerned about private network topologies inside a project. In my case, users have complex topologies , multiple networks, multiple routers, some vms are connected to multiple networks and so on.Since they manually created these topologies,I was thinking if there is some way to backup those.13:32
cshenjawad_axd: sorry, I don't have experience of backing up network things.13:35

noonedeadpunkioni: you need to define in openstack_user_config either placement-infra_containers hosts or os-infra_containers15:41
noonedeadpunkor define it in conf.d15:41
ioniyes, it did that15:42
ionihttps://paste.xinu.at/Bndd/15:42

ionisetup-hosts, setup-infra, setup-openstack15:44
noonedeadpunkhm, that's weird15:45
ioniwhy?15:45
noonedeadpunkso as you have https://paste.xinu.at/Bndd/ placement hosts should be added into the inventory and os-placement-install.yml playbook launched before nova15:46
ioniit is launched before bova15:47
ioniin setup-openstack, i see that os-placement-install.yml is before os-nova-install.yml15:47
