ChosSimbaOneHi. How would you recommend setting up os_rally https://docs.openstack.org/openstack-ansible-os_rally/queens/. Will that be a lxc container on the infra hosts, or should that be a  seperate host?09:41
taccojrosser: seems that i have a proxy in place and this proxy is used for access to repo host but the proxy don't have access to the repo host. I've tryed to exclude this range by setting the NO_PROXY option for this subnet. But till now it won't work.09:46
jrosserok, new information :)09:47
jrosserproxy can be tricky, but you need to look at the docs for the difference between global_environment_variables and deployment_envinroment_variables09:48
jrossermy clouds are also behind a proxy09:48
taccook will check this. Thanks for pointing me there.09:48
jrosserand i don't have proxy env vars configured on the cloud hosts at all09:48
jrosserbecasue that messes up all sorts of stuff during the runtime of the cloud09:49
taccook. will check this. That means proxy is only required for deployment?09:49
jrosseri use deployment_environment_variables to make sure that there is proper proxy setup in place *only* during the ansible tasks run09:49
jrossertacco: perhaps, it depends on what you want to achieve09:49
taccoi would like to have a fresh run without any issues by installing the whole thing. :) So it could be enough to have the proxy in place only for the deployment itself09:50
jrossertacco: i'm kinda busy today but take a good look at the 'limited connectivity guide" and i can help more next week09:50
tacconevermind.. thanks a log09:50
taccothanks a lot for your help. Will try to not ask more stupid questions this week. ;)09:51
jrossermy advice would be to stripout all proxy config from your hosts except for the apt config09:51
jrosserand use deployment_environment_variables to define the proxy just for during the ansible run09:51
jrosserotherwise you end up with all the http traffic between the openstack services being directed to the proxy rather than each other09:52
taccothanks that helps a lot.. will read carefull and change vars for proxy from global to deployment09:56

r81hi. I tried a few days ago to follow the "Quickstart: AIO" but got stuck on some error. I'm ready to try again. I'd like some recommendations for a smooth install, is there a distro that's more widely used?12:07

cshenr81: Ubuntu?12:10
r81cshen: I used ubuntu last time, but there was some problem with the network config12:11
r81one of the playbooks couldn't read my interface from netplan12:12
cshenr81: I think openstack-ansible is mostly tested on Ubuntu. However the distro shouldn't be a problem.12:12
r81are there more or less stable tags to checkout?12:13
cshenwhich one did you check out?12:13
r81the master, like in the guide12:13
*** goldyfruit_ has quit IRC12:14

carlosmssThe ceilometer monitoring only for billing, resources usage, etc20:02
spotzcarlosmss: the link mgariepy posted above has prometheus20:02
guilhermespcarlosmss: you can see the status of the services in two ways20:12
guilhermespfirst I'd suggest to check the status of the services with hatop, that way you're gonna see the status of each backend20:12
guilhermespthen, to check the the status of the processes, just go to the container and check using systemclt20:13
guilhermespto monitor, you can use some tools we have developed in openstack-ansible ops repo, as mgariepy posted above20:13
guilhermespthere were tools like monasca too20:13
guilhermespif you're running rocky, would be good to give a try20:14
guilhermespi have deployed in newton and pike deployments, and some colleagues have done it in a rocky deployment20:14
guilhermespbut notice that the roles for monasca are no longer maintained by us. you can use it until stein though20:15
carlosmssmgariepy: Thank you, I will see it20:29
carlosmssguilhermesp: The monasca would be good, I thinked monasca was called by "openstack-ansible {setup-hosts|setup-infraestructure|setup-openstack}". Then Monasca is a standalone playbook, right?20:36
