evrardjpnoonedeadpunk: I think I pasted an example code... If we discuss about changing that "interface" from comma separated strings to a list, then the function will not change with my example code, merely the call.11:34
noonedeadpunkevrardjp: sorry, i meant not change of the function, but the change of the template, as then we'll need to pass another var into the macros11:35
evrardjpnoonedeadpunk: let me review it once again :)11:35
jrosserblinkiz: your answer is in here https://docs.openstack.org/openstack-ansible/latest/user/prod/example.html11:35
jrosserblinkiz: look in particular there at how eth12 is wired up to br-vlan. This allows untagged traffic on br-vlan to be the external network. Neutron requires an interface rather than a bridge in it's external network config, hence eth1211:36
noonedeadpunkevrardjp: if you think this this simplification is really worth it - no problem in implementing it. But I think macros in this way is more flexible11:37
jrosserblinkiz: remember that this is just an example, you don't have to do it like that if you don't want to. It's possible to bring in external networks pretty much how you wish11:37
blinkizjrosser, Thanks for the explanation.11:39
blinkiznoonedeadpunk, What do you mean with macros11:39
noonedeadpunkblinkiz: we were talking about this patch https://review.openstack.org/600072  today I was a bit surprised with the way of making rabbitmq_servers, where we firstly join list into string, separated with comas and then splitting it back inside configuration templates.11:42
blinkiznoonedeadpunk, aha, got it :)11:42
noonedeadpunkSo my concern was to write this macros in a way, that it won't mind about what is passed into it - list or string and would make it's work in both cases And if we move away from such join/split we won't need to change at least ceilometer role)11:44
evrardjpwell the macro was just to simplify and DRY11:45
evrardjpso I think we are good11:45
evrardjpit's now cosmetic :)11:45
noonedeadpunkactually yes)11:45
evrardjpbut cosmetic is sometimes important, as it helps being maintainable. If we have a very big jinja that's unreadable, then it becomes harder.11:45
evrardjpto maintain*11:46
noonedeadpunkthe problem is, that transport_url and messaging_urls are really long, so this split won't be really in sight11:47
evrardjpnoonedeadpunk: so for your info, the host_groups parameter could as well have been replaced with a map function on the call :)11:47
evrardjpso that you pass about the same thing on each of them, but generate the right string11:48
evrardjpI can show you that later when I have finished with what I am doing11:48

spotzsounds like the postinst didn't kick or errored but my guess is you've used it often enough this was a one off?17:01
jamesdentonthanks mnaser. are you bonding NICs? single or dual? just curious17:02
mnaserjamesdenton: nope, no bonded nics, but we allow connecting directly to public network on vms so17:02
odyssey4mespotz: yeah, it may have errored - the script does '|| true', which means the error wouldn't have shown up... but that task will, so it provides a safety net in case17:03
jamesdentonare you running everything on one nic? or split control/data across two?17:03
mnaserjamesdenton: all on one but 40g nics have plenty17:04
jamesdentonahh gotcha. yeah you've got room to grow :D17:04
mnaseryep plenty of space there :)17:04
spotzodyssey4me: Yeah which is a good thing:)17:05

skiedudeyes! finally got all the playbooks to finish17:41
skiedudeeverything appears to be up17:41
skiedudeTHe semi unfortunate part now is trying to figure out if I can convert our existing project setup ansible scripts to work with this kind fo setup, or if I have to start from scratch17:41
skiedudeOur current/old setup is everyting just running as services on the infra/compute hosts, now that its in containers, and behind haproxy, I need to figure out the best way to automate creations of affinity groups, projects, vms etc17:42
mnasermgariepy: spinning a really big instance?17:44
