gillesMoHello ! Is it safe to "apt upgrade" all the hosts and containers ? I don't see any doc about system upgrades. To push to the limit, how ar we supposed to upgrade from Ubuntu 16.04 to Ubuntu 18.04 ? Add new nodes, remove old ? Inplace upgrade ? What difference between hosts and LXC containers ? I've also posted this question here : https://ask.opens07:58
gillesMotack.org/en/question/115470/how-to-handle-system-upgrades-using-openstack-ansible/07:58
odyssey4megillesMo: I don't have the ether pad on-hand, perhaps others will when they come online later today08:04
odyssey4meI don't that logan- and mgariepy have done the trusty->xenial move, so they could help you with a major system upgrade.08:04
odyssey4me*I know08:04
odyssey4meOSA does not yet support Ubuntu 18.0.4 yet, so do not do that.08:05
odyssey4meBut yes, as far as anything else goes - you can upgrade the system packages as you wish - just don't do Xenial -> Bionic.08:05
gillesMoodyssey4me: OK, sure I don't want to upgrade NOW to bionic, but I would like to know how I will handle that in the futur, when xenial will not be supported any more by openstack-ansible !08:12
openstackgerritJesse Pretorius (odyssey4me) proposed openstack/openstack-ansible-os_blazar master: Remove unnecessary RabbitMQ setup/vars  https://review.openstack.org/58647208:12
odyssey4megillesMo: Well, we first need to get it working with bionic. Work has started, but we need more hands to get it done. Given the lack of momentum of it for the moment, it's likely that will only get done in Stein.08:13
odyssey4meAnd sure, hopefully this time we can publish a guide in the upgrade docs.08:14

lbragstadcan i just update the network osa laid down or do i have to reconfigure neutron a bit?18:46
bgmccollumif multipath-tools is installed (which is now the default), then nova.conf *MUST* have `iscsi_use_multipath = True` set in nova.conf, or attachments won't work. If your compute hosts are also volume hosts (meaning, multipath is installed and running), then you *MUST* have `use_multipath_for_image_xfer = True` set in cinder.conf under [lvm], or volume migration won't work.18:47
jamesdentonlbragstad Well, neutron is gonna want to assign the address whether or not dhcp==true|false. You can disable port security on the network and let your home dhcp server give it an addr, but the IP in openstack won't match18:50
