evrardjpandymccr: did you see dhellmann mail on the generic idea of when to branch for cycle-trailing? It's in the interesting mail about self-service branch mgmt07:55
evrardjpgood morning Disova07:55
DisovaNeed help. I trying install all-in-one OSA, with stable/newton branch. I use this openstack user config https://github.com/openstack/openstack-ansible/blob/master/etc/openstack_deploy/openstack_user_config.yml.aio07:58
Disovaand it seems there no openstack service07:59
evrardjpDisova: what do you mean?07:59
evrardjpis the external_lb_vip_address filled in?07:59
Disovaevrardjp: sure07:59
evrardjpit has an ip or fqdn?07:59
Disovaevrardjp: I mean, that all tasks skipped08:00
*** javeriak has quit IRC08:00
Disovaevrardjp: ip address08:00
evrardjpand what's in your conf.d08:00
evrardjp?08:00
Disovaevrardjp: all tasks  setup-openstack.yml was skipped08:00
evrardjpyes my point precisely08:00
Disovaevrardjp: o_O08:01
evrardjpDisova: this .aio stuff was meant to generate a standard configuration for you (conf.d + openstack_user_config + user variables) for you when running scripts/bootstrap-aio.sh08:01
Disovaevrardjp: I should configure in all services in conf.d?08:01
evrardjpif you didn't run this, you may have to configure everything as you'd normally do08:01
Disovaevrardjp: yeah) Thank you!08:02
evrardjpstd method: http://docs.openstack.org/project-deploy-guide/openstack-ansible/draft/08:02
evrardjpaio method: http://docs.openstack.org/developer/openstack-ansible/developer-docs/quickstart-aio.html08:02
evrardjpaio basically take lots of assumptions for you08:03
Disovaevrardjp: can I just insert everything in openstack_user_config.yml?08:03
evrardjpwell I guess what you mean by everything08:04
evrardjpif you mean the equivalent of your conf.d files, yes08:04
evrardjpOR08:04
Disovaevrardjp: I mean, can I use this config https://github.com/openstack/openstack-ansible/blob/master/etc/openstack_deploy/openstack_user_config.yml.test.example08:04
evrardjpjust run scripts/bootstrap-aio.sh with an empty /etc/openstack_deploy folder and it's gonna work08:05
evrardjpDisova: that's the general idea of what must be there, but you can't blindly copy it: the external vip would be different, there is more than one host etc...08:06
Disovaevrardjp: yes, I mean with one IP08:06
Disovaevrardjp: sure not blindly08:06
evrardjpI think bootstrap-aio also has a few tricks for the networking08:06
evrardjpbut technically for the openstack-ansible deployment side if you adjust this, that would be enough Disova08:07
evrardjpif you want to make your life easier, use bootstrap-aio. If you want to learn how to do it more like you'd do it on multi-node, follow the standard guide08:08
evrardjphere is the role started from bootstrap aio: https://github.com/openstack/openstack-ansible/blob/master/tests/roles/bootstrap-host/tasks/main.yml08:08
oansonandymccr, I see it passes. Thanks!08:09
evrardjpDisova: as you can see it prepares loopback disks to give to containers, this way it's easier for you than doing it yourself08:09
Disovaevrardjp: thank you for the clarification08:10
Disovaevrardjp: why br-vlan obtains IP address 172.29.248.100 ?08:11
Disovaevrardjp: github.com/openstack/openstack-ansible/blob/master/tests/roles/bootstrap-host/templates/osa_interfaces.cfg.j208:11
Disovaevrardjp: https://github.com/openstack/openstack-ansible/blob/master/tests/roles/bootstrap-host/templates/osa_interfaces.cfg.j208:11
evrardjpso that's typically an AIO trick08:11
evrardjpnot required for multi node08:12
evrardjpbr-vlan technically doesn't need an IP08:12
evrardjptwo reasons here:08:13
evrardjpthe second ip (the .1) is used for tempest IIRC08:13
evrardjptempest will create a flat network and will require an IP for the provider network to route from/to08:14
evrardjpon the first br-vlan I think it's for masquerading/checksumming rules08:14
evrardjpso we basically trick by creating a fake link08:14
evrardjp    pre-up ip link add br-vlan-veth type veth peer name eth12 || true08:14
evrardjpanyway08:15
evrardjpI don't fully remember the details08:15
evrardjpbut the idea is there08:15

lemouchonHi, i'am currently  write a role to install murano. most of the role is near to be finish but, i have some questions. 1) should i put murano_api and murano_engine on separate container (currently i install both on the same.)  2) where is the best place to deploy the murano dashboard13:22
lemouchoni mean on which role13:23
evrardjphey lemouchon13:26
evrardjpyou can decide what you prefer for api/engine13:27
evrardjpI think it would be best to separate, I rather separate front facing api of internals13:27
evrardjpbut it's also possible to merge them later13:27
evrardjplet's discuss that in the review13:27
evrardjpfor additional dashboards you have to check at other roles13:28
evrardjpdrifterza did something with monasca dashboard IIRC13:28
evrardjpyou can use that as inspiration13:28
evrardjpsadly monasca ui has no code yet :/13:29
evrardjpand drifterza doesn't seem to be here13:29
evrardjplemouchon: remember you may have to do stuff in horizon too13:30
evrardjpcheck there: https://github.com/openstack/openstack-ansible-os_horizon/blob/2935673aac64de530e7942cef15283c2e2b1ab39/defaults/main.yml13:30
evrardjpas you can see some compononents have a pip package you can basically install13:31
evrardjpthis commit was to add trove ui: https://github.com/openstack/openstack-ansible-os_horizon/commit/2935673aac64de530e7942cef15283c2e2b1ab3913:31

*** jheroux has joined #openstack-ansible13:32
lemouchonthks for the informations i will take a deeper look.13:34
evrardjplemouchon: why?13:35
evrardjpit makes sense to install the horizon dashboards in the horizon role :p13:35
evrardjpit's quite simple too13:35
logan-hey oanson -- thanks for the info. I think that'll end up being a docs thing in the neutron role docs when deploying dragonflow. I'll work on a POC config to rip those agents out in the overlay and provide some suggestions on how to document that in your patch13:35
lemouchonmay be in the horzion playbook but not in the horizon role. Because each time you have a new dashboard you need to change your role13:36
evrardjpwell that doesn't happen much often... And it's just variables in the roles, variables that could be overriden13:38
evrardjplemouchon: ^13:38
evrardjpthe code itself doesn't really change much13:38
evrardjpand changing code/playbooks is kinda the same it's still patches to review and merge :p13:38
lemouchonwhats i am thinking  is a generic install_dashboard role where you define a <dict> with various dashboard from various src ( dir, git, pip)13:40

palendaeStill hadn't gone out by then17:00
palendaeIt was merged17:00
palendaeBut they also had to update upper constraints17:00
palendaeThat's what they were waiting on when I checked with them17:00
palendaeSpeak of the devil, my patch just updated and failed again17:01
andymccryeah thats what reminded me that its failing haha17:01
palendaeSame error17:01
andymccri'm going to test some things to try unblock that17:01

cloudnullpalendae: I think you need to add a test here https://review.openstack.org/#/c/407655/1/lib/generate.py@186 to look for containers using the old seperator17:05
cloudnullwhich means you'll like need to add another option to _build_container_hosts so you have both the old and new names.17:06
