fungispotz[m]: are we still having our monthly meeting in about half an hour? just double-checking14:33
* fungi is in the middle of storm prep but can work meetings in14:34
spotz[m]@fungi go prep and we'll check in at half past and maybe do 30 minutes? And I don't know how much you have to do. If you're not here at the half don't worry about it14:43
spotz[m]fungi: ^14:43
funginah, i'm around whenever14:44
fungii got most of it done after breakfast14:44
fungimainly just moving some more important things upstairs or onto the riser in the garage in case we get more flooding than expected, flipped over the deck furniture, etc14:45
fungineed to roll down the storm shutters this afternoon, but that only takes a few minutes14:46
spotz[m]Ok. I'll see you in 15 then. I suspect it'll be short anyways. I do have a CoC idea for the OpenInfra Days which I want to throw out there14:46
spotz[m]As an ex-Floridian I will never say don't prep:)14:46
fungicool14:49
fungiand yeah, we've been through enough floods and hurricanes that we know it's better safe than sorry14:50
fungii'll probably be up all night playing video games so i can keep an eye on the water and make sure it stays on the preferred side of our seawall14:51
fungimainly because i'd rather not move the car to a higher part of the island unless i absolutely have to14:51
spotz[m]You ready or need a few more?15:01
fungii'm around15:02

spotz[m]#topic roll call15:04
* fungi reporting in15:04
spotz[m]Let’s see if we have anyone else then I’ll tell you my idea15:05
fungithe suspense... ;)15:05
spotz[m]Hehe15:06
spotz[m]#topic CoC teams at OpenInfra Days15:06
spotz[m]So while discussing the CoC for Texas Linux Fest it was pointed out that it states you can report things to folks in staff shirts15:07
spotz[m]But as you know there’s often lots of people in staff shirts at events15:08
spotz[m]What about having a consistent color and design for the CoC folks across all events. Or even for those who don’t wear staff shirts a consistent badge15:09
fungiat the summits, we've instructed attendees that they can report violations to anyone wearing a "staff" badge (which were already different colors than regular attendee badges)15:11
fungiwould continuing that at openinfradays be the recommendation?15:11
fungii guess we haven't done that at oidays events in the past?15:12
fungii know part of the new event strategy was to bring more of our standard summit practices to oidays events15:12
fungiso including that would make sense15:12
spotz[m]I think so, as I know most folks at the events probably dress up more then a staff shirt15:15
spotz[m]Maybe beyond the staff badge a lanyard or something on it that can be easily seen from a few feet away15:16
fungialso we make sure there are fixed locations where reports can be made, so that you don't have to hunt down someone in a particular shirt or with a specific badge color15:18
fungi(as well as reminding attendees of where they can e-mail reports of coc violations or related concerns)15:18
spotz[m]It a small location that could be easier or harder. I just like the idea of consistency15:19
fungiyeah, i do too. just trying to figure out what options we might have, and how much of that we might already be doing in other contexts15:19
fungithe foundation staff members have a lot of varied tasks at events, because we're such a small team, so putting them in uniforms all the time is unlikely to work out15:20
fungibut for example, if the staff badges aren't visible enough, then we should be able to find ways to improve on that15:21
spotz[m]Well I was even thinking while a few staff might get to the events we need to think about the local organizers and making sure they’re good to go. Hence why I was looking for consistency if say Alison wasn’t there and that’s who someone was looking for15:22
fungiyes, well making sure we clearly identify who at an event can receive coc-related concerns is very important (you're right it might not be just foundation staff members, or there may even be no foundation staff members at some events)15:25
spotz[m]Just things I think of when I can’t sleep15:29
fungimakes sense15:30
fungii'll also point the meeting log out to aprice and the events folks (helena et al)15:31
fungithey may have additional ideas for how to improve this15:31
spotz[m]And while there are professional courses on reporting having a pre-event review of the CoC and how to take reports would be good15:32
fungiyep, something we should definitely be going over with the local event organizers if we don't already15:33
spotz[m]So that is what was on my mind this morning.15:35
spotz[m]We should also make a push on the survey now that the page is up15:35
fungiyep, i agree, we're now set up to be able to easily point project participants there and encourage them to take the survey and get more involved15:37
spotz[m]I think that's all I had for today. You have anything?15:44
funginope, thinking about next steps moving forward on the survey publicity was pretty much all i had at the moment15:45
spotz[m]Ok let's end this and you can go continue prepping!15:50

fungialso, the community ml just got another spam (this time someone subscribed a gmail address and sent it from there, not via the webui like the previous ones)15:50
fungii'll go ahead and block that address and clean up the list archive15:50
spotz[m]Bummer, it's nice to not have to go in and moderate but folks will click on links thinking they're safe15:51
fungii've also pointed the foundation event folks at the meeting log now15:52
fungifurther posts from that spammer will now be blocked, and the thread they created has been deleted from the archive15:53
spotz[m]Thanks!16:24
