fungiohai14:02
spotz[m]Hey:)14:02
spotz[m]#link https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/diversity-wg-agenda14:03
spotz[m]For anyone who needs the link to the agenda14:03
spotz[m]I only put 2 items on today so unless we get some dropins I suspect this will be a short meeting14:03
spotz[m]#topic Survey Response Progress14:04
spotz[m]When last we peeked we had 6 responses I think.14:04
fungii wonder if we can do something to raise visibility of that among our communities14:05
fungipromote it in the foundation newsletter? superuser blog post?14:06
spotz[m]Ok I was wrong we had 5 and still have 5. 3 OpenSack, 1 Labs, and 1 Kata14:06
spotz[m]Scratch that 4 - 2 are OpenStack I included the header line14:07
spotz[m]So yeah we're doing really bad this time around. Have you been able to talk to any of the other Community Managers?14:07
spotz[m]I think maybe also getting it in Superuser or one of the mailings?14:08
fungii did mention it, but will bring it up again14:08
spotz[m]I haven't seen anything on mailing lists but to be honest OpenStack and StarlingX are the most active and most of StarlingX I have to get out of my spam folder14:09
fungihopefully we'll be moving the starlingx mailing lists to a new listserv in a couple of weeks, so that spam misidentification situation may improve14:11
spotz[m]Good news because it's not consistent:(14:12
spotz[m]Ok so if you hit up the other community managers I'll talk to Helena and Kristin to see if they can help. Sound like a plan?14:13
fungiyep, on it14:14
spotz[m]Ok anything else we can think on for this item?14:15
funginothing comes to mind14:15
spotz[m]#topic Leadership Shadowing14:16
spotz[m]We talked about this in the Spring but at the time I think we were hoping for an in-person PTG14:16
spotz[m]With the lack of diversity in the last/current OpenStack election I wanted to bring this forward again to see if we can't figure out a way to get some leadership exposure to new folks and especially diverse folks14:18
fungimakes sense14:19
spotz[m]Without the diversity survey admitedly we don't have as much insight into the other projects14:20
spotz[m]I know some projects have a bug person which I think is a good way and back in the day I used to wrangle one of the 2 OSA meetings we had a week14:21
fungioh, that's right, i had talked to some folks about getting a more visible link for the diversity survey on the openinfra.dev site14:21
* fungi makes a note to check up on the progress there14:21
spotz[m]In RDO we always ask for a volunteer to run the next meeting so everyone has a chance to lead14:21
spotz[m]:)14:24
spotz[m]So I'm thinking maybe we start an etherpad with ideas for how folks can get some leadership experience and then bring it to the PTL/TC/SC/etc to holefully get either buyin to try?14:27
spotz[m]s/holefully/hopefully/14:27
fungisure, that seems like a great idea14:29
fungii know some leadership bodies have struggled with the same sorts of efforts, but maybe they'll have some feedback on what hasn't worked, or things to try that we haven't thought of14:30
spotz[m]#link https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/diversity-leadership14:30
spotz[m]Ok I put a goal, feel free to improve it:) and I put the 2 ideas that I had mentioned on it to start it14:33
fungicool, thanks!14:34
spotz[m]Do we want to hack on this for a bit or do it async and maybe chat a bit in channel until the next meeting or the PTG which ever comes first14:37
fungisure, i think that should work14:37
spotz[m]We could also maybe reserve some time at the PTG and try to invite folks14:37
fungidefinitely!14:37
spotz[m]Ok let's end the log and we'll chat later:)14:38

spotz[m]Thanks for coming fungi!14:38
fungithanks for chairing spotz[m]!14:39
spotz[m]My pleasure and I'll ask Kristi if we can have 2 minutes during the TC meeting to share the link so we can get more ideas14:44
fungiawesome15:19
fungialso i remembered where we got to with publicizing the survey... i wanted to link it from somewhere on the openinfra.dev site, but none of the existing pages were a great fit. the recommendation was we add something like a openinfra.dev/diversity or similar new page with a summary of the diversity-related efforts our foundation engages in/supports, and link the survey from there,15:21
fungibut we'll need to draft some initial content for that page15:21
fungionce we have a diversity page there with a link to the survey, it's a lot easier to send communications pointing people to that rather than some convoluted raw survey url15:24
spotz[m]Ok let's work on that and put that on the agenda for next meeting s well18:24
fungiyeah, my initial thinking was we can probably just reuse stuff we've already said on the wiki (and then replace the wiki page with a link the foundation landing page for diversity or something)18:26
spotz[m]Yeah that's a good start then update it to current status as I bet it's out of date18:39
fungii can take a few minutes to copy it into an etherpad for more direct collaborative editing, but not today18:40
