opendevreviewDr. Jens Harbott proposed openstack/diskimage-builder master: CI: Drop tripleo project template  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/diskimage-builder/+/91596205:28
Nilesh_Hi Team,06:23
Nilesh_i am going though scalieo.py into os_bricks where i found utils.retry have backoff_rate. so what is the use of it(backoff_rate)? 06:24
tonybNilesh_: I'd have to look at the underlying code but I'd say it's the base for an exponential backoff.  To ensure successive retries don't flood the retry target06:32
tonybNilesh_: https://tenacity.readthedocs.io/en/latest/api.html#tenacity.wait.wait_exponential and https://github.com/jd/tenacity/blob/main/tenacity/wait.py#L138 are probably helpful06:36
Nilesh_thanks tony06:39

opendevreviewDr. Jens Harbott proposed opendev/glean master: Use importlib when pkg_resources isn't available  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/glean/+/91590710:02
fricklerhmm, I'm trying to revert ^^ to PS5 (because I was doing my testing wrong), but gerrit says: ! [remote rejected] HEAD -> refs/for/master%topic=use-importlib-patch5 (no new changes)11:30
fungifrickler: pretty sure you need to amend if you're going to do that, so the commit id is updated12:35
opendevreviewDr. Jens Harbott proposed opendev/glean master: Use importlib when pkg_resources isn't available  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/glean/+/91590712:48
clarkbfrickler: any luck with ^?15:27
fricklerclarkb: yes, seems to work on noble, I just need to update our infra elements next15:32
clarkbthank you for checking15:35
clarkbwe can probably go ahead and approve the glean change (and make a release?) sicne it doesn't seem to regress existing behavior15:35
opendevreviewClark Boylan proposed opendev/system-config master: Upgrade gitea to v1.21.11  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/91600415:38

opendevreviewClark Boylan proposed opendev/system-config master: DNM force etherpad failure to hold node  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/84097216:19
clarkbautoholds rotated again. Assuming I've actually got the testing correct and didn't introduce new bugs with my new test cases I think this is basically what our change will look like now. Just need to wait for an actual release to upgrade to16:21

jrosser_are the bionic nodesets being removed soon?16:52
clarkbjrosser_: probably not. Removing xenial is still  on my post PTG todo list and I haven't had a chance to really dig into that. I think you should prepare for them going away in the future but it depends on how quickly I or someone else is able to get through the cleanup16:54
clarkbI would avoid adding new jobs on bionic for sure16:54
jrosser_i'm debating how much effort to put into resurrecting broken bionic jobs on unmaintained branches16:54
jrosser_if the nodes arent going away any time soon i'll have a go, it's a valid target for the branch in question16:56
clarkbif you were asking about xenial I would say just delete them. But with bionic resurrecting old jobs is probably fine16:57
fungijrosser_: with my openstack hat on, i'd say deleting broken jobs on unmaintained branches sounds fine, unless you're actually volunteering to maintain them17:05
fungiunmaintained branches have no real expectations, which is why we called them that17:06
fungiif you want to resurrect the ones using bionic, you've probably still got ~2 years runway before the nodes will be deleted out from under them, based on our current track record17:06
fungibut you should feel under no obligation to do so17:07

fungiclarkb: oof, i hate to do this. i should have paid closer attention to the date for the gerrit rename maintenance. it's my 10th wedding anniversary, so i may have other obligations around lunchtime :/21:54
tonybclarkb: if you can do it at UTC 2200 I can be around.22:01
tonybI don't know how long it'll take but I'll have several hours22:01
fungiit's usually under 5 minutes start to finish, and most of that is waiting for statusbot to notify all the irc channels22:03
fungimy absence isn't assured, i just shouldn't have committed. i have dinner plans later that day, but it's possible i'll be out driving around or something at lunch too22:06
tonybfair enough22:08
clarkbfungi: tonyb: what about Monday then?22:25
clarkbthe 22nd22:25
opendevreviewClark Boylan proposed opendev/system-config master: DNM force etherpad failure to hold node  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/84097222:28
clarkbthen we avoid anniversaries and tonyb doesn't have to work on a weekend?22:28
clarkban autohold is in place for 840972. If we spot check that and it looks good I think the last thing we need is a new etherpad release with the updated client_credentials grant support included22:31
tonyb22nd works for me, and as a bonus we could do it at 2000-2200utc  22:38
opendevreviewSteve Baker proposed openstack/diskimage-builder master: Overwrite EFI grub.cfg when it exists  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/diskimage-builder/+/91602122:38
fungithe 22nd is passover and earth day, but neither of those present any challenges for me. happy to be around at 20z on the 22nd for that22:41
clarkbok I'll send an email for Monday the 22nd at 2000-2100 UTC22:41
fungithanks! and sorry for the false start22:42
fungii mainly don't want to spend the rest of the year sleeping on the sofa22:42
clarkbno problem. I want you to get good sleep too :)22:44
clarkbannouncement sent22:49
fungithanks again!22:49
clarkbfungi: and maybe tomorrow morning we upgrade the mm3 database?22:51
clarkband I suppose after we could do etherpad22:51
fungiwfm, sure22:52
clarkboh and a gitea upgrade. So many things need upgrading22:55
