kata-irc-bot<raravena80> @arshad.rad containerd has a metrics endpoint `<host>:1228/metrics` however, I don't think it's supported my prometheus.  If you want to get prom metrics on the pods and container I suggest you take a look at something like a k8s prometheus operator that will help you scrape metrics from the kubelet on `/metrics` and `/stats`  I think also if you want to scrape VM stats it would have to be something like the01:35
kata-irc-bothttps://github.com/prometheus/node_exporter.  Now, I don't think it will work with the Kata VM since the it's a very much stripped down VM/Kernel.01:35

kata-irc-bot<graham.whaley> @mike - yeah, there is a glitch/anomoly that when the irc<->slack bot tries to do user/name translation, it somehow fail/falls out and maps 'k a t a' to the first user in the group user list iirc, which happens to be 'j e s s f r z'. The infra folks have looked at it a few times, but I think there was no nice easy quick solution.09:39
kata-irc-bot<graham.whaley> @raravena80 .... sooo, do you think we should consider if a kata vm specific extention could be added to the node exporter? If so, at minimum we can open an Issue so it might get picked up by somebody :slightly_smiling_face:09:40
kata-irc-bot<graham.whaley> @krsna1729 @manohar.r.castelino @gmmaharaj ^^^ I suspect you've been in this area, any thoughts on that?09:40

kata-irc-bot<krsna1729> We tried metrics server in k8s but it seemed broken for kata17:04
kata-irc-bot<krsna1729> Even though kata reports metrics17:04
kata-irc-bot<krsna1729> There runtime is not collecting/populating17:05
kata-irc-bot<krsna1729> There are other open issues on how to properly account all resource overheads from being hypervisor based17:06
kata-irc-bot<krsna1729> @eric.ernst @manohar.r.castelino know more17:06
kata-irc-bot<manohar.r.castelino> @krsna1729 with containerd-shim-v217:10
kata-irc-bot<manohar.r.castelino> I need to test with container-shim-v2 to verify this.. we had issues before with CRI..17:10
kata-irc-bot<raravena80> @graham.whaley opened this https://github.com/kata-containers/runtime/issues/1183 to track :slightly_smiling_face:17:52
kata-irc-bot<graham.whaley> @raravena80 great, thx. I'll maybe go CC the others on it if you didn't ;)17:54
